Review: The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants: The Official Scrapbook

Editorial Review - Kirkus Reviews

In this feel-good novel with substance, four teenage girls, friends since they were all born just weeks apart, are about to embark on their first summer as separate young women. Carmen, half-Hispanic, has a knack for math; Lena, the beauty of the group and self-conscious about her appearance, demonstrates artistic talent; Bridget is the tall soccer star; and Tibby, the rebel, sports a nose ring. Visiting grandparents for the first time in Greece, attending soccer camp in Mexico, spending the summer with dad in South Carolina, or working at home, how will these girls survive their time alone? Leave it to a pair of secondhand jeans, which, despite their various body shapes, fits all four perfectly. These magical jeans, dubbed the Traveling Pants, span the world, one week at a time, lending their mystical powers wherever they go. The pants become a metaphor for the young women finding their own strength in the face of new love, unexpected friendships and death, a father's remarriage, and a reckless relationship—and without their best friends. Debut novelist Brashares renders each girl individual and lovable in her own right, emphasizing growing up without growing apart. Move over, Ya Ya Sisters. (Fiction. YA)

The book The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Book 1 by Ann Brashares has 336 pages and It's genre is realistic fiction.
The book is about four girls who usually spend their summers together
, suddenly all have places to be during the summer, and they end up all around the country, and even on the other side of the world! The girls find a way to be near each other through a pair of old pants. These pants get sent to all of the girls, and it brings each girl something different.
My favorite part of the book is when Tibby meets Bailey, who is twelve years old, and has Lukemia. Tibby and Bailey become best friends but then something really sad happens to Bailey that changes everyone's lives.

I liked this book because it was about a group of 4 friends. This book is easy to relate to because it is about girls being good friends. MH

The Sisterhood of the Traveling pants was written by Ann Brashares. This book is realistic fiction. I have read the whole book.
This book is about 4 girls named Carmen, Tibby, Lean, and Bridget
. These girls have found a 'magical' pair of jeans that fits them all. This is weird to them because they are all different shapes and sizes. These jeans weren't the best jeans. They were all worn out and look really worn out and old. These jeans will travel around with the girls for the summer. They are all going to different places and are all being separated for the first time for more than a week since they were born. Over the summer they travel throughout each girl and help them in many ways!
My favorite part in the book was when all of the girls get separated they all find a way to keep close to each other through out the summer. It kind of makes me think about pen pales kind of.
If you like books with a bond so close that nothing can separate something, or realistic fiction you must read this book. This is a really good book and everybody must read it!
