While Memory is Fresh

This book is a highly interesting and informative book written by a brilliant politico-military mind – Major General Jagjit Singh. The General has dedicated this book to the Youth of India who are the torchbearers of India of tomorrow. He has conveyed to the youth that to be successful leaders they are expected to be knowledgeable and hardworking. He has also given a vivid account of the battles in which he took part, both as a sailor and later as a frontline soldier.

In the later part of the book, the General has carried out a brief analysis of India’s standing on the International Chess Board. As to India-Pakistan relations of tomorrow, he has a vision of the two countries forming a Confederation. A pipe dream it would appear to be at present – but it may become a reality one day.

In the last few chapters, he has strongly advocated introduction of Voluntary Service by the Youth of India. He has also reviewed India’s Defence Preparedness, as of now, and the weakness that needs to be rectified. A most readable book indeed.
