User Review - Flag as inappropriateIt is a crime that no matter how hard one searches there is NO hardcover edition of this book available, but only these very flimsy editions that turn yellow and brittle in no time. I need a copy of this book that I can use heavily without it falling apart as all penguins and vintage pb's do. Help anybody?
User Review - Flag as inappropriateI give this book 3 stars - 5 stars for the original author's book, but 1 star for this typo-filled, poor translation with a long Trotskyite introduction. They should have spent more time on typos and translation than interpretation. For example, look on page 511
Mr. Baynes, of Blackburn, in a lecture published in 1858, estimates that "each real mechanical horse-power [25] will drive 450 self-acting mule spindles, with preparation, or 220 throstle spindles, or 15 looms for 40 inch cloth with the appliances for warping, sizing, &c."
Every other translation of Capital says 200 throstle spindles, not 220. And 220 throstle spindles doesn't even make any sense. This particular version of Capital is full of errors and typos like that.
Review: Capital: Critique of Political Economy, Volume 2: The Process of Circulation of Capital (Das Kapital #2)
User Review - Justin - GoodreadsThis is not a page turner, but it is definitely necessary to understanding Marx's whole theory of capital. How the turnover period of different kinds of capital effect the outcome of circuits of ... Read full review

User Review - Henrik Hallberg - GoodreadsWhat to say about a book like this? This is the closest I've studied a book, reading it thoroughly in parallel with David Harvey's video lectures. Over the past six weeks, I've spent upwards of a ... Read full review
Review: Capital, Vol. 1: A Critical Analysis of Capitalist Production (Das Kapital #1)
User Review - John - GoodreadsThis was a bear to get through and I almost quite a few times, but I'm glad I finished. I didn't go into this book with any real respect for Karl Marx. After finishing the book, I think more of him as ... Read full review
Review: Capital, Vol. 1: A Critical Analysis of Capitalist Production (Das Kapital #1)

Review: Capital: Critique of Political Economy, Volume 2: The Process of Circulation of Capital (Das Kapital #2)
User Review - Henrik Hallberg - GoodreadsOk, so I cheated and skimmed a bit during the two last chapters, and instead understood the chapters from Understanding Capital, volume II: a reader's guide. After reading volume 2 back-to-back to volume 1, I will definitely take a significant break before pulling volume 3 from the shelf. Read full review
Review: Capital, Vol. 3: The Process of Capitalist Production as a Whole (Das Kapital #3)
User Review - Matthew - GoodreadsFinished the preface yesterday by Engels yesterday. He's pretty much Marx's "hype man." Looking forward to getting into the actual text today. This looks much more promising the V. 2. Read full review
Review: Capital, Vol. 1: A Critical Analysis of Capitalist Production (Das Kapital #1)
User Review - Tom Emanuel - GoodreadsAn (in)famously tough slog, Marx's dense masterwork is demystified brilliantly by David Harvey's online lecture series and his companion volume, entitled (appropriately enough) A Companion to Marx's ... Read full review
