I do not know how to rate this book. This is an excellent book from a hopeless publishing house. I wonder how the author could get a book of this merit published by a publishing house of this order. This is a well-researched, exhaustive account of the history of British literature in a highly accessible language. This is ideal for the students of Asian countries having no intimate knowledge of European culture and civilisation. The book is considerably detailed (about 850 pgs.) and written in an engaging style with special emphasis on major texts.
But the value of the book has been marred by the numerous typos and spelling errors that occur throughout the book. You need to constantly verify the spellings of the character-names and titles of the literary works. If you are ready to take that trouble, you can immensely gain from this book.
