corporate, as at the time of his receipt of the same shall be entitled to the said several and respective annuities now to be redeemed, according to such interefts as they respectively shall

II. And be it further enacted by the authority aforefaid, That out of fuch monies as are or shall be in the receipt of the exchequer, of the faid furpluffes, exceffes or overplus monies, arifen or to arife for the half-year, ending at the feaft-day of Application of the annunciation of the blessed Virgin Mary which fhall be in monies for the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and twenty payment of four, or for any time preceding the fame feaft-day, (except as principal and before is excepted) there fhall be iffued and paid, on or before ders for blank the fame feast-day, to the paymafter or paymasters of the faid lottery tickets, orders for blank lottery-tickets for the time being, fo much &c. more money as, together with the monies, which shall then be in the receipt of exchequer, applicable to the discharge of the principal and intereft due on the fame orders, fhall be fufficient to fatisfy and pay off all the principal and intereft which on the fame feast-day fhall be due or in arrear on the fame orders, by way of impreft, and upon account, to be by him applied and paid over for discharging all the faid principal and interest and that the faid commiffioners of his Majefty's treasury, or any three or more of them now being, or the high treasurer, or any three or more of the commiffioners of the treasury for the time being, do cause the fame to be iffued and paid to fuch paymaster or paymasters accordingly, without any further or other warrant or authority to be fued for, had or obtained in that behalf; any former law or statute to the contrary notwithstanding. And the faid paymaster or paymasters is and are hereby strictly enjoined and required to apply and pay over the monies which fhall be fo iffued to him or them as aforefaid, to fuch perfon or perfons, body or bodies politick and corporate, as fhall be entitled to the said blank lottery-orders, and the principal and interest payable thereon, according to fuch interefts as they shall have refpectively therein.

III. Provided always, and be it enacted by the authority afore- Sinking fund faid, That from and after fuch iffues and payments to the faid applied. cashier and paymafter or paymasters refpectively fhall be made, as herein before is directed, and subject thereto, all the reft and refidue of monies, arifen or to arife by or out of the faid furpluffes, excefles or overplus monies, commonly called the finking fund, fhall go, continue, remain, and be issued and applied, to and for the fame ufes, intents and purposes, and in the fame manner and form as they were directed, applied or appropriated to by any former act or acts of parliament, and none other; any thing in this act contained to the contrary notwithstanding.

IV. Relief granted V. And whereas all the real and personal estate of George Colto Catharine lingwood, attainted of high treafon, was by one or more act or Collingwood, acts of parliament vested in trustees, to be fold for the use of the widow, &c. publick, and by the fale thereof, and the rents and profits received before the fame was fold, the fum of eighteen thousand one hundred pounds hath been raised, and the greatest part thereof hath been fince paid into the receipt of his Majefty's exchequer and whereas Catharine, widow and relict of the faid George Collingwood, having for these eight years last past been deftitute of all neceffary fubfiftence, has contracted confiderable debts for the fupport and maintenance of herself and her family; now in compaffion to the deplorable condition of the faid Catharine Collingwood and her family, we your Majesty's faid dutiful and loyal fubjects, the commons of Great Britain in parliament affembled, do humbly pray, that it may be enacted, and be it enacted by the authority aforefaid, That the full fum of fix thousand pounds, out of the money arisen or to arise at the exchequer from the fale or produce of all, every, or any the estates forfeited for treafon in the late rebellion, which estates, by one or more act or acts were vested in trustees, to be fold for the ufe of the publick, shall and may be taken, issued and applied, for and towards the future fupport and maintenance of the faid Catharine Collingwood and her family, and for the payment of her debts, without account, impreft, or other charge, to be fet upon her for the fame, or any part thereof; and the commiffioners of his Majefty's treafury, or any three or more of them, or the high treasurer for the time being, are hereby authorized, impowered and directed, to cause the said sum of fix thousand pounds, and every or any part thereof, to be issued and paid to the said Catharine Collingwood or her affigns accordingly, without any fee, or abatement for fees or charges, or other deduction or abatement whatsoever; any former law or ftatute to the contrary notwithstanding.

CAP. VI.

An act for enlarging the term granted by an act paffed in the third year of his Majesty's reign, intituled, An act for repairing the highways, from that part of Counter's bridge which lies in the parish of Kensington in the county of Middlesex, to the powder-mills in the road to Staines, and 10

Cranford Bridge in the faid county in the road to Colnebrooke; and for making the faid act more effectual.

This act 3 Geo. 1. for repairing the highways from Counter's Bridge, &c. which commenced from the firft of July one thousand seven hundred and seventeen, and was to continue in force for the term of eleven years, and also the tolls thereby granted, are further continued for seventeen years. Further continued by 11 Geo. 2. c. 6.

CA P. VII.

An act for making more effectual an act made in the ninth year of his Majefty's reign, intituled, An act for completing the repairs of the harbour of Dover in the county of Kent; and for reftoring the harbour of Rye in the county of Suffex, to its ancient goodness, fo far as the fame relates to the harbour of Rye.

HEREAS it has been judged necessary that the harbour of
Rye in the county of Suffex should be preferved for the be-
nefit of trade and navigation: and whereas an act paffed in the ninth
year of his Majefly's reign, intituled, An act for completing the 9 Geo. 1 c. 30.
repairs of the harbour of Dover in the county of Kent, and for
restoring the harbour of Rye in the county of Suffex, to its an-
cient goodness, by which act a duty of three pence per tun upon
Shipping, granted and continued by former acts therein mentioned for
the repair of Dover harbour, was granted or continued for a further
term therein mentioned, as well for completing the repairs of the faid
harbour of Dover, as for restoring the faid harbour of Rye to its
ancient goodness, which was then propofed and intended to be done
by letting the tide have free courfe through certain fluces near the
Said harbour of Rye called Scotch Flat and Craven Sluces, in the
the prefent channels, to the drowned lands between Blackwall and
Matham in the said counties of Kent and Suffex, or into fuch
other cut or channel, as shall be found most proper and expedient
to restore the faid harbour of Rye: and whereas fince the paffing
of the faid act it is found, that the faid harbour of Rye may be
made more useful and commodious by opening and making a new
cut or channel from the Winchelsea channel, right out to the
fea, which will be of greater use and benefit to the trade and navi-
gation of this kingdom, than if the method propofed by the said recit-
ed act should be pursued; but as it is doubted whether the powers
given by the faid recited act do extend to the making any new cut or
channel elsewhere than in the places therein mentioned, and it is ne-
ceffary to explain and amend the faid act: may it therefore please
your most excellent Majefty, that it may be enacted, &c.

The powers in the act 9 Geo. 1. for repairing Rye harbour, transferred
to the perfons herein named, who are to do all works neceffary for the
purposes of the act. Two thirds of the duty 9 Geo. 1. to be applied to
the ufes of this act. First meeting of trustees to be on 12 May 1724. at
Rye. Powers in the act 9 Geo. 1. to be in force. Trustees may erect
bridges, locks, &c. giving fatisfaction to the land-owners. Damage by
overflowing to be fatisfied out of the duties. If parties cannot agree, a Continued by

jury to be impanelled, &c. The channel wall from the new cut fhall be heightened and repaired, as the commiflioners of fewers fhall direct. If the commiffioners of fewers fhall judge it unfafe to let the fea have its free courfe up the new channel, the trustees fhall make a navigable fluice at fuch place, as the commiffioners fhall judge fit. The duties not liable to make good any damage through the default of the commiffioners of fewers. The fea fhall not be let into the new cut, till all the works be perfected. If the commiffioners of fewers judge proprietors damaged, and by their expenditors give notice to the trustees, they fhall remove the dams, &c. Trustees neglecting, expenditor may imploy perfons. Owners of the levels, when obftructed, may few out their waters through Rye or Winchelsea, or any other cut. The proprietors of Guldeford Level, &c. when obftructed, may make new cuts to carry off their waters into the channel. Trustees may elect others in room of trustees dying or refusing to act.

CAP. VIII.

An act for reviving an act paffed in the tenth year of her late Majesty's reign, intituled," An act to make a caufey over the Denes from Great Yarmouth to Caifer in the county of Norfolk; and for making the said act more effectual.

Eaft and Weft Flegg to pay 3 d. in the pound rent for two years and a half. Great Yarmouth the like fum; to be paid by the tenants: and one half-part to be deducted out of the rents. Commiffioners_appointed. Commmiffioners to appoint affeffors and collectors. Collectors to pay the monies to the chamberlains of Great Yarmouth. That part of the caufey from Yarmouth to Caifter Lane's end, &c. vefted in the mayor, &c. who are to appoint furveyors. Surveyors may dig gravel, &c. out of the walte, or other grounds, making fatisfaction for damages.

An act for repairing and amending the highways from the north part of Harlow-bufh common, in the parish of Harlow, to Woodford in the county of Effex.

The toll granted by this act took place from 27 of Feb. 1723, for 21 years.

An alt for repealing certain duties therein mentioned, payable upon coffee, tea, cocoa nuts, chocolate and cocoa paste imported; and for granting certain inland duties in lieu thereof; and for prohibiting the importation of chocolate ready made, and cocoa pafte; and for better ascertaining the duties payable upon coffee, tea, and cocoa nuts imported; and for granting relief to Robert Dalzell, late earl of Carnwath.

year of our Lord one thousand fix hundred and ninety eight, over and
above all duties before that time payable for the fame at the custom-
houfe; that is to fay, for every hundred weight of coffee imported as
aforefaid, accounting one hundred and twelve pounds to the hundred,
fifty fix fhillings of lawful English money: for every hundred weight
of cocoa nuts imported, and containing as aforefaid, from any the
plantations belonging to the crown of England, fifty fix fillings:
for every hundred weight of cocoa nuts imported, and containing as a-
forefaid, from any other country or place from whence they may by law
be imported, four pounds and four billings of like lawful English
money: for every pound of chocolate ready made, imported as afore-
faid, one fhilling: for every pound of cocoa paste imported as afore-
faid, two fhillings: for every pound of tea regularly imported as a-
forefaid, from whence the fame might have been lawfully imported
before the making that act, one filling: for every pound of tea im-
ported as aforefaid, from Holland or any other country, not the place
of its growth or usual shipping, two fhillings and fix pence per pound
weight; and fo proportionably for any greater or lesser quantity of
any of the commodities imported as aforefaid, respectively. And
whereas by an act of parliament made in the third year of the reign
of her late majesty Queen Anne, intituled, An act for continuing 3&4 Ann. c-4.
duties upon low wines, and upon coffee, tea, chocolate, spices
and pictures, and upon hawkers, pedlars and petty chapmen,
and upon muflins; and for granting new duties upon several
of the said commodities, and alfo upon callicoes, china ware
and drugs, feveral new and additional rates and fums of money here-
in after mentioned were granted to her faid Majesty, her heirs and
fucceffors, for and upon all and all manner of coffee, cocoa nuts, cho-
colate, cocoa pafte and tea, which should be imported into the king-
dom of England, dominion of Wales, and town of Berwick upon
Tweed, at any time or times after the first day of February one
thousand feven hundred and four, and before the twenty fourth day
of June one thousand seven hundred and ten, over and above all du-
ties and additional duties before that time payable for the fame, or
any of them, by any other law then in force, and over and above the
duties herein before-mentioned, the new and additional rates and fums of
money following; that is to fay, for every hundred weight of coffee
imported as aforefaid, accounting one hundred and twelve pounds to
the hundred, fifty-fix fhillings of lawful English money for every
hundred weight of cocoa nuts imported, and containing as aforefaid,
