Chauncey, Richard Chilwell, efquire, Deputy John Carbonnel, Wil liam Dawson and Richard Ducane, efquires, Sir Peter Eaton and Sir Nathaniel Gould, knights, Thomas Gearing and Peter Godfrey, efquires, Mr. Nathaniel Garland, Mr. John Gunfton, Edmund Halfey, efquire, Mr. Henry Hankey, Mr. Thomas Hucks, Mr. William King, Mr. James Lamb, Mr. James Leaver, Mr. Percival Lewis, Captain Daniel Locke, John London, efquire, Thomas Malyn junior, and Nathaniel Micklethwaite, efquires, Mr. Samuel Mayo, Mr. Thomas Martin, Mr. Francis Moult, Mr. Jofiah Nicholson, Mr. Nathaniel Newnham, Jeremiah Sambrooke, efquire, Mr. Samuel Sheafe, John Smith, efquire, Sir John Tafh, knight, Peter Theobalds, efquires, and Mr. James Townshend, of Cheapfide, (the faid gentlemen being then all governors of the prefent hofpital of St. Thomas) or fo many of the faid gentlemen, as fhould be living at the time of procuring fuch intended corporation, and willing to become members thereof, and jo many other gentlemen, governors, or reputed governors of the prefent hofpital of St. Thomas, or others, by his faid executors, or the major part of them to be appointed, as together with his faid executors and other the gentlemen above named, fball make up the number of fifty at the least, and not exceed fixty, and. their fucceffors, in manner by fuch letters patent or act of parliament directed and expreffed, to be from time to time elected and admitted members of fuch intended corporation, into one diftinct and separate body politick or corporate, with perpetual fucceffion, for the better managing and governing of the faid intended hofpital, and for the better fettling and applying the faid refidue of bis eftate for fuch uses as aforefaid, and for fuch other and further uses as are therein after appointed, with a prefident and trecfurer, and fuch other officers of the faid intended corporation, as by his faid executors fhould be thought neceffary or convenient in fuch letters patent or act of parliament to be named and appointed, and in manner therein directed, to be from time to time for ever thereafter fucceffively inta fuch refpective offices elected and admitted, by fuch name or names, as to his Majesty or the legislature should seem proper, and by fuch name or names to bave perpetual fucceffion, with power to have and use a feparate and diftinct common feal for the necessary affairs of the faid intended corporation, and with power by fuch name or names as aforefaid, to bave, bold, take, enjoy, alien, transfer, and difpofe of the faid therebġj before devised refiduary part of his eftate, and therewith or with any pert thereof, to purchase, take and enjoy meffuages, lands, tenements, fee-farm rents, or other estates of inheritance, for perpetuity or otherwife, and to

the value of the faid refiduary part of bis eftate, or to fuch further or other yearly value, as to his faid Majefty or the legislature fhould feem convenient, and with power and capacity in law to fue and be fued, to implead and be impleaded, anfwer and be answered unto by fuch name or names as aforefaid, in any court or courts of record, or elsewhere, and with fuch other powers, privileges and capacities in law, as to his Majefty or the legislature should feem meet to be granted; and declared his mind and will to be, and further defired his faid executors and last named trustees, by fuch humble application as aforesaid, to his Majesty or the legislature, to endeavour to obtain and procure that by fuch letters patent or act of parliament as aforefaid, a committee be appointed of one and twenty of the members of fuch intended corporation, for the more conftant and ordinary management and application of the faid refiduary part of his eftate, and of the charity thereby intended, to which committee, or to fuch number of them as fhould be thought convenient, when convened and af Jembled, by and with the prefident and treasurer of the faid intended corporation, or one of them, he hath declared his will and defire to be, That his faid executors and trustees, by fuch letters patent or act of parliament as aforefaid, endeavour to have granted and appointed fuch powers as may enable them in the most effectual manner to manage, fettle and apply the faid refiduary part of his estate, and the rents, interests, dividends or other profits or produce thereof, to fuch uses as by his faid last will are directed and appointed; and that by fuch letters patent or act of parliament it might be provided, that feven of the faid committee of one and twenty, or one third part thereof at the least, may yearly and every year go out of and be excluded their respective places, as members of the faid committee, by the appointment of a general court or affembly of the members of the faid intended corporation, to be assembled and convened by the prefident or treasurer of fuch intended corporation, yearly and every year, at a time or times in fuch letters patent or act of parliament to be appointed; and that for that purpose at fuch general court or affembly as aforefaid, fourteen of the members of the faid committee, for the year next preceding fuch general court or affembly, be first elected and chofen members of the said committee for the year then next enfuing, and feven other perfons out of fourteen of the members of the faid intended corporation, who were not members of the faid committee for the year then next preceding, to be first nominated by the faid committee for the year next preceding, be by and at fuch general court and assembly as aforefaid, elected and appointed members of the faid committee for the year then next enfuing fuch election; and that in and by fuch letters patent or act of parliament it be further provided and appointed, that the management and accounts of the faid committee of one and twenty, be from time to time fubject to the approbation or difallowance of a general court or affembly of the members or governors of fuch intended corporation, to be from time to time convened and fummoned by proper and convenient notice, by the prefident or treasurer of fuch intended corporation for the time being; and did further declare his mind, will and defire to be, that his executors, by like bumble application as aforesaid, fhould endeavour to procure and obtain, that by fuch letters patent or at of parliament as aforefaid, the faid Sir Gregory Page, baronet, be appointed the first prefident of the faid intended corporation, and the faid Charles Joye, efquire, the firft treasurer thereof, and the faid William Clayton, efquire, Mr. Thomas Hollis, fenior, John Kenrick and John Lade, efquires, Doctor Richard Mead, Mofes Raper, efquire, and Mr. John Sprint, and the faid_Mr,

the value of the said refiduary part of his eftate, or to fuch further or other yearly value, as to his faid Majefty or the legislature fhould feem convenient, and with power and capacity in law to fue and be fued, to implead and be impleaded, anfwer and be answered unto by fuch name or names as aforefaid, in any court or courts of record, or elsewhere, and with fuch other powers, privileges and capacities in law, as to his Majefty or the legislature should feem meet to be granted; and declared his mind and will to be, and further defired his faid executors and last named trustees, by fuch humble application as aforefaid, to his Majesty or the legislature, to endeavour to obtain and procure that by fuch letters patent or act of parliament as aforefaid, a committee be appointed of one and twenty of the members of fuch intended corporation, for the more conftant and ordinary management and application of the faid refiduary part of his eftate, and of the charity thereby intended, to which committee, or to fuch number of them as fhould be thought convenient, when convened and affembled, by and with the prefident and treafurer of the faid intended corporation, or one of them, he hath declared his will and defire to be, That his faid executors and trustees, by fuch letters patent or act of parliament as aforefaid, endeavour to have granted and appointed fuch powers as may enable them in the most effectual manner to manage, fettle and apply the faid refiduary part of his eftate, and the rents, interests, dividends or other profits or produce thereof, to fuch uses as by his faid laft will are directed and appointed; and that by fuch letters patent or act of parliament it might be provided, that feven of the faid committee of one and twenty, or one third part thereof at the least, may yearly and every year go out of and be excluded their respective places, as members of the Said committee, by the appointment of a general court or affembly of the members of the faid intended corporation, to be affembled and convened by the prefident or treasurer of fuch intended corporation, yearly and every year, at a time or times in fuch letters patent or act of parliament to be appointed; and that for that purpose at fuch general court or affembly as aforefaid, fourteen of the members of the faid committee, for the year next preceding fuch general court or affembly, be first elected and chofen members of the faid committee for the year then next enfuing, and feven other persons out of fourteen of the members of the faid intended corporation, who were not members of the faid committee for the year then next preceding, to be first nominated by the faid committee for the year next preceding, be by and at fuch general court and affembly as aforefaid, elected and appointed members of the faid committee for the year then next enfuing fuch election; and that in and by fuch letters patent or act of parliament it be further provided and appointed, that the management and accounts of the faid committee of one and twenty, be from time to time fubject to the approbation or difallowance of a general court or affembly of the members or governors of fuch intended corporation, to be from time to time convened and fummoned by proper and convenient notice, by the prefident or treasurer of fuch intended corporation for the time being; and did further declare his mind, will and defire to be, that his executors, by like bumble application as aforesaid, fhould endeavour to procure and obtain, that by fuch letters patent or act of parliament as aforesaid, the faid Sir Gregory Page, baronet, be appointed the first prefident of the faid intended corporation, and the faid Charles Joye, efquire, the first treasurer thereof, and the faid William Clayton, efquire, Mr. Thomas Hollis, fenior, John Kenrick and John Lade, efquires, Doctor Richard Mead, Mofes Raper, efquire, and Mr. John Sprint, and the faid Mr.
