II. IV. And it is hereby enacted by the authority aforesaid, That Thefe annui- the faid annuities, or fums of feventy one thousand and one ties perfonal pounds two fhillings and three pence three farthings, and eighty thousand pounds, and either of them, fhall be deemed and adjudged to be personal estates, and the fame, and the stock and ftocks, which the faid governor and company of the bank of England, now have, or are entitled unto, as alfo all fuch stock or stocks, which the faid governor and company fhall or may be entitled unto by virtue of this act, and also the principal fums and annuities payable to the faid governor and company, for or in refpect of any fuch ftock or ftocks, are and fhall by virtue of this act be clear and free, and freed and discharged of and from all taxes, charges and publick impofitions whatsoever, charged or to be charged thereupon, and fhall not be liable to any foreign attachments; any law, cuftom or ufage to the contrary notwithftanding.

V. And be it further enacted by the authority aforefaid, That the faid former acts above recited or mentioned, and all the powers, authorities, privileges and advantages, rules, directions, pains, penalties and forfeitures, claufes, matters and things therein contained, being now in force (fuch alterations as

are therein made by this act only excepted) fhall continue and be used, exercised, inflicted, applied and put in practice and execution, as fully as if the faid powers, authorities, privileges and advantages, rules, directions, pains, penalties and forfeitures, clauses, matters and things, were again repeated and reenacted in the body of this prefent act; and that the faid governor and company of the bank of England, and their fucceffors, fhall continue to be a corporation, and fhall enjoy the feveral annuities or fums of feventy one thousand and one pounds two fhillings and three pence three farthings, and eighty thousand pounds, till they refpectively fhall be redeemed as aforefaid; and fhall enjoy all fuch capacities, powers, privileges and advantages, to the said governor and company of the bank of England, as a corporation belonging, until the faid annuities or yearly fums shall be redeemed (according to the provifo in this act contained concerning the fame) freed and discharged of and from all former and other provifoes and powers of redemption whatfoever, for redeeming the faid duties or revenues called the aggregate fund, or the said duties on houses, or any of them; any former act or statute, or any claufe, matter or thing in this act contained to the contrary notwithstanding.

VI. And whereas of late divers frauds and deceits have been put upon the faid governor and company of the bank of England, and Forging, &c. other perfons, by the altering, forging and counterfeiting of the bankbills, and bank-notes of the faid governor and company, and by the erafing and altering the said bills and notes, and the endorsements thereupon, and by the tendring in payment, uttering, vending, exchanging and bartering, of fuch altered, forged, counterfeited and erafed bills and notes, and the endorsements thereupon, to the prejudice of publick credit, and to the great hurt and diminution of trade and commerce; for redreffing whereof for the future, be it enacted by the authority aforefaid, That if any person or persons shall alter, forge or counterfeit any bank bill or bank-note, made or given out for the payment of any fum of money, by or for the faid governor and company, or any bank-note of any fort whatfoever, or fhall erafe or alter any fuch bill or note, or any endorsement thereupon, or fhall tender in payment, utter, vend, exchange or barter, any fuch altered, forged or counterfeited bill or note, or any erafed or altered bill or note, or the endorsement thereupon, or demand to have the fame exchanged for ready money by the faid governor and company, or their fucceffors, or any other perfon or perfons (knowing fuch bill or note, or the endorfement thereupon, fo tendred or demanded to be exchanged, vended or bartered, to be altered, forged, counterfeited or erafed) and with intention to defraud the faid governor and company, or their fucceffors, or any other perfon or perfons, body politick or corporate; then every fuch perfon or perfons fo offending, (being thereof lawfully convicted) fhall be, and is hereby declared and adjudged a felon, and thall fuffer as in cafes of felony.

CAP. X.

An act to enable the juftices of the peace for the eaft-riding of the county of York, to take down the county bridge, called Stanford Bridge, and to build a tone bridge at a more convenient place over the river Darwent in the said riding instead thereof.

Justices of the east-riding Com. Ebor. may take down Stanford bridge, and build a new bridge at a more convenient place, to be the county bridge. Justices may tax the inhabitants thereto. Juitices may fell the materials of the old bridge. May purchase ground for making a new road to the new bridge. Taxes not to exceed 4d. per pound.

CAP. XI.

An act for repairing the roads therein mentioned, from the parish of Enfield in the county of Middlefex, to the town of Hertford, and to the great bridge in Ware in the county of Hertford.

The tolls granted by this act, took place from the third of May 1725. and to continue for 21 years. Continued and enlarged 6 Geo. 2. c. 15.

CAP. XII.

An act for incorporating the executors of the last will and teftament of Thomas Guy, late of the city of London, efq; deceased, and others, in order to the better management and difpofition of the charities given by his faid last

will.

HEREAS Thomas Guy, late of the city of London, efquire,
deceased, having in his life-time, at his own costs and charges,
erected in the parish of St. Thomas in Southwark, one new large build-
ing, confifting of two squares, with feveral other proper edifices thereunto
adjoining or belonging, did on the twenty seventh day of December in
the year of our Lord one thousand feven hundred and twenty four, depart
this life, having duly made and executed his laft will and teftament, bearing
date the fourth day of September before the faid day of his decease, and in
and by his faid last will and teftament, did give, devife and bequeath, all
the reft and refidue of bis eftate whatsoever and wherefoever, both real and
perfonal, after the payment of his debts, legacies and funeral charges therein
mentioned, and fubject to the payment of feveral annuities and yearly fums
therein bequeathed (which faid refiduary part of the faid teftator's eftate,
is computed by the executors of his faid will, to be of the value of two bun-
dred thousand pounds and upwards) unto Sir Gregory Page, baronet,
Charles Joye and William Clayton, efquires, Mr. Thomas Hollis,
fenior, John Kenrick and John Lade, efquires, Dr. Richard Mead,
Mofes Raper, efquire, and Mr. John Sprint, governors of the present
hofpital of St. Thomas, their heirs, executors, administrators and affigns
refpectively, upon the truft, and for fuch uses, intents and purposes, as are
therein directed and appointed, and did thereby likewife ordain, conftitute
and appoint the faid Sir Gregory Page, baronet, Charles Joye and Wil-
Jiam Clayton, efquires, Mr. Thomas Hollis, fenior, John Kenrick and
John Lade, efquires, Dr. Richard Mead, Mofes Raper, efquire, and
Mr. John Sprint, executors of his faid laft will, on truft as aforesaid, and
did thereby declare his mind and will to be, That until fuch incorporation by
letters patent, or act of parliament, as is therein directed, could be obtained
and take effe, his faid executors, and therein laft mentioned trustees, their

beirs, executors, adminiftrators and affigns, and afterwards fuch corporetion should, out of the Refiduum of bis eftate, or the rents, interests, or other profits thereof, carry on, erect, finish, and fit up, the two new Squares of buildings in Southwark, by him then fometime fince began, and intended for an hofpital for reception of fuch fick perfons as are therein after mentioned, and fuch other erections, offices and buildings, as should, in the opinion of his faid executors and trustees, be for that purpose fur ther neceffary; and alfo provide and furnish the fame with beds, and all other conveniencies, for the reception of, and receive and entertain therein, four hundred poor perfons, or upwards, labouring under any distempers, infirmities or diforders, thought capable of relief by phyfick or Surgery, but who by reason of the small hopes there might be of their cure, or the length of time, which for that purpofe might be required or thought necessary, were or might be adjudged or called incurable, and as fuch, not proper objects to be received into, or continued in the prefent hofpital of St. Thomas, or other bospitals, in and by which no provifion bad been made for distempers deemed or called incurable, (of whom he declares his mind to be, that they receive and entertain lunaticks, adjudged or called as aforefaid incurable, not exceeding twenty in number at one time) fuch poor perfons to be chofen and appointed by his faid executors and trustees, out of fuch patients and perfons, who shall be discharged out of the hospital of St. Thomas or Bethlehem, or other hospitals, on account of the fmall bopes of their cure, or the great length of time for that purpose required or thought necessary, and on fuch or any other account, adjudged or called incurable, and not fit to be continued in the faid hofpital of St. Thomas or Bethlehem, or other hofpitals, or fuch other poor fick perfons or lunaticks, as under fuch or the like circumstances, fhould apply to his faid executors and trustees for relief, at the difcretion and pleasure of his faid executors and trustees, to whom he fubmits the feveral fpecies or kinds of fick perfons deemed or called incurable, who shall be admitted into the faid intended bofpital; and has further thereby directed, that his faid executors and trustees should provide fuitable and proper diet, phyfick, and all other neceffaries, for the maintenance, relief or cure of fuch fick perfons during their lives, or for fo long time as his faid executors and trustees fhould think fit to continue them under their care in the faid intended hofpital; and bath thereby further declared his mind and will to be, that fuch poor fick perfons received into, and entertained in the said intended hofpital, should be fubject at all times to his faid executors and trustees, and to fuch rules and orders as they should think fit to make for their behaviour in the faid intended hofpital, and liable to be expelled from thence and removed at the pleasure of his faid executors and trustees, and other like fick perfons admitted and entertained in their room; and thereby further declares his mind and will to be, that if his faid execu tors and trustees should not find cause, or fhould on any account whatfoever not think fit to keep all, or great part of the beds or wards in the faid intended hofpital, filled and supplied with fick perfons deemed or called incurable, it should be lawful for them to caufe any number of the faid beds or wards to be filled and made use of in like manner, and with like patients, as the beds in the hofpital of St. Thomas are ordinarily used for; all which patients fo to be received and taken in from time to time into the faid intended hofpital as incurable or otherwife, he hath declared bis mind to be, that his faid executors and trustees should provide in all things, as near as might be, according to the courfe, customs and usage of late years prevailing and practifed in the faid prefent hospital of
