ARTICLES

FOR THE GOVERNMENT

OF THE

DERBYSHIRE

LOYAL TRUE BLUE CLUB.

I.

THAT this Club, called the Derbyshire Loyal True Blue Club, formerly held at the house of Thomas Moss, and afterwards at the house of J. Wallis, be in future held at Mr. Taylor's, the Tiger Inn, in the Corn Market, Derby.

II.

That the members shall meet the first Wednesday evening in every month, between the hours of seven and nine o'clock, at Mr. Abbott's, the Royal Oak Inn.

III.

That for the better conducting the business of the Club, there shall be elected annually, two patrons, a president, a vice-president, two stewards, and a secretary.

IV.

That the members of the Club shall dine on the 28th day of May, being the anniversary of the birth of that great statesman the late Right Honourable William Pitt. That at such meeting, all forfeits then due shall be paid.

V.

That all official communications shall be made to the secretary, who is to lay them before the president in open assembly, for general information.

VI.

Any member wishing to withdraw from the Club, shall signify his intention by letter, at, or previous to, the yearly meeting; at which time such communications can only be attended to it is, however, to be clearly understood, that no resignation can be accepted, until all forfeits and other dues to the Club treasury are paid.

VII.

That any gentleman wishing to become a member of this Society, shall be proposed and seconded on one club night; the proposal discussed the next, and the candidate ballotted for the third; and that two-thirds of the members then present shall vote for the admission of such gentleman, or he is to be considered as rejected: the proposer and seconder to be present at the ballot, by eight o'clock, or forfeit two shillings and sixpence. (Members elected by acclamation excepted.)

VIII.

That an assembly of fifteen members, exclusive of the president, shall be requisite to ballot for the admission of a candidate.
