(3) The prayers for the Ember-weeks, for the Parliament, and CHARLES II. for All Conditions of Men; the General Thanksgiving, and that For Restoring Public Peace at Home, were added. (4) Some new Collects were introduced, changes made in others, and "Church" substituted for "Congregation." (5) The Exhortation in giving notice of the Communion was ordered to be read on the Sunday or some holiday before its admin→ istration, and persons were required to give notice of their intention to communicate the admonition against Transubstantiation was also introduced. (6) The Baptismal Service for those of Riper Years; the Form of Prayer to be used at Sea; and the last five prayers in the Visiation of the Sick, were added: and the absolution of the sick was left to the curate's discretion. (7 The consent of the curate was required before Confirmation, but the bishop might dispense with it; and Confirmation was not absolutely necessary for admission to the Communion. (8) In the Churching of Women the Psalms were changed, and the service might be read from the desk. (9) New-married people were exhorted, but not required, to receive the Lord's Supper. (10) The Font to be placed at the discretion of the ordinary. (11) In the Catechism, the words "because they promise them both by their sureties," &c., were substituted for "yes, they do perform them by their sureties, who promise and vow them in their names, &c." There were other slight changes and additions. They were subscribed by the convocation on December, 20, 1661, and confirmed by the king, the privy council, and the legislature next year.
