"I Love the Flowers."

BY MRS. E. P. HOWARD.

I LOVE the flowers-the sweet, bright flowers,
That wave in the summer air;

While nurs'd by the sun and gentle showers,
They yield a fragrance rare.

Oh, I love the flowers-the sweet, bright flowers;
They blush in the early morn,
While dew-drops gem each mossy stem,
And each leaf and flower adorn.

I love by the latticed porch to stand,
Where the rose and woodbine creep;
And I seem to breathe in a fairy land,

When the world is wrapped in sleep.
Oh, I love by the latticed porch to stand,
And welcome the rising sun;

And deck my hair with flowerets rare,
Ere the care of the day is begun.
