Preface. AGAIN the Moss Rose ventures before the lovers of the beautiful the lovers of Flowers; and hopes to find a place in the splendid Bouquet of Fashionable Literature. Superior to its predecessors in the charming dress in which it appears, we hope the fragrance of its heart of hearts will not be diminished. The productions of many of our most gifted writers are found within its pages; and if others appear who are young, and as yet unknown in the literary world, may not they be considered as the variegated and plebeian moss which contrasts so beautifully with the glorious and showy petals the "veil of moss"-the finishing grace to the queen of flowers; and altogether calculated to please the eye and delight the mind? In the fragrant atmosphere of the admirers of Flora, may this expanding bud flourish, undisturbed by the keen breath of criticism. |
