In every star thy wisdom shines ;
We read thy name in fairer lines.
And nights and days thy power confess;
Reveals thy justice, and thy grace.
Round the whole earth, and never stand:
4 Nor shall thy spreading gospel rest,
Till through the world thy truth has run, Till Christ has all the nations blest,
That see the light, or feel the sun. 5 Great Sun of righteousness! arise ;
Bless the dark world with heavenly light; Thy gospel makes the simple wise,
Thy laws are pure, thy judgments right. mf 6 Thy noblest wonders here we view,
In souls renewed, and sins forgiven: aff Lord! cleanse my sins, my soul renew,
And make thy word my guide to heaven.

The Language of the Heavens.
And spangled heavens, a shining frame,
Their great Original proclaim.
Does his Creator's power display,
The work of an almighty hand.
The moon takes up the wondrous tale,
Repeats the story of her birth:-
And all the planets in their turn, mf Confirm the tidings, as they roll,
And spread the truth from pole to pole.
Move round this dark terrestrial ball ?
Amid their radiant orbs, is found ?
And utter forth a glorious voice;

The firinament displays thy skill;
Tempest and calm, thy word fulfill;
And night to night thy knowledge teach.
Well-known the language of their song,
Led by the silent moon along,
Thy beauty beams on every eye.
Comes like a bridegroom from his bower,
His bright career with speed and power, Thy flaming messenger, to dart
Life through the depth of nature's heart.
Along the path of providence,
Thy word reveals, transcending sense ;

And thy commandments pure.
Enduring as thy throne;
Justice and truth alone.
And make thy servant wise;
The day-spring to mine eyes.
Who knows the guile within?

Still keep their course the same;
Divinely teach his name.
Their general voice is known;
And orders of his throue.
Here he reveals his word;
To bid us know the Lord.
His truth without deceit;
And his rewards are great.

It calls dead sinners from their tombs,

And I would fain obey;
To guide ine, lest I stray.
The errors of his ways?
I would not dare transgress.
Forgive my secret faults,
