35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.

36 Ifg the Son therefore shall make you free, yeh shall be free indeed.

37 I know that ye are Abraham's seed: but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in

you.

38 I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father.

39 They answered and said unto him, Abraham k is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham.

40 But now you seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this mi did not Abraham.

41 Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; wen have one Father, even God.

42 Jesus said unto them, Ifo God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but p he sent me.

43 Why do ye not understand my speech even because ye cannot hearg my word.

44 Yer are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode s not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

45 And because t I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.

46 Which of you convinceth u me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?

47 He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.

48 Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan, and v hast a devil?

49 Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but 1 honour my Father, and ye do dishonour me.

his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.

8 The neighbours therefore, and they which before had seen him that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged.

9 Some said, This is he: others said, He is like him but he said, I am he.

10 Therefore said they unto him, How were thine eyes opened?

11 He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay, f and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash and I went and washed, and I received sight.

12 Then said they unto him, Where is he? He said, I know not. 13 They brought to the Pharisees him that aforetime was blind. 14 And it was the sabbath-day when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes.

15 Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. He said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see.

16 Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath-day. Others said, Howg can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And h there was a division among them.

17 They say unto the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thine eyes? He said, He is a prophet. i

18 But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight.

19 And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? how then doth he now see?

20 His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind:

21 But by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who hath opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for himself.

22 These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, hem should be put out of the synagogue.

23 Therefore said his parents, He is of age; ask him.

24 Then again called they the Ps.50.14,15. man that was blind, and said unto him, Give Godn the praise: we know that this man is a sinner.

CHAPTER XI.

1 Christ raiseth Lazarus. 47 The priests and Pharisees conspire against him.

TOW a certain man was sick,

N named Lazarus, of Bethany,

the town of a Mary and her sister Martha.

2 (It was that Mary which h anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.)

3 Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he c whom thou lovest is sick.

4 When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but d for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.

5 Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.

6 When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.

7 Then after that saith he to his disciples, Let us go into Judea

again.

8 His disciples say unto him, Master, the Jews of late e sought to stone thee; and goest thou thither again?f

9 Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world.

10 But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him.

11 These things said he: and after that he saith unto them. Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; i but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.

12 Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well. 13 Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep.

14 Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.

15 And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him.

16 Then said Thomas, which is called Didymus, unto his fellowdisciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him."

17 Then when Jesus came, he found that he had lam in the grave four days already.

18 Now Bethany was nigh unto

Martha meeteth Jesus. Jerusalem, 1 about fifteen furlongs off:

19 And many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to k comfort them concerning their brother.

20 Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the house.

21 Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. 22 But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee.

23 Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.
