19 T And this a is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou?

20 And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ.

21 And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou 2 that prophet? And he answered, No.

22 Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?

23 Heb said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet c Esaias.

24 And they which were sent were of the Pharisees.

25 And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that prophet?

26 John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one d among you, whom ye know not;

27 He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to unloose. 28 These things were done in Bethabara e beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.

29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lambf of God, which 3taketh g away the sin of the world. 30 This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me.

31 And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.

32 And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.

AND the third day there was a

3 And when c they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.

4 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.

5 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoeverd he saith unto you, do it.

6 And there were set there six water-pots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews. coutaining two or three firkins apiece.

7 Jesus saith unto them, Fill the water-pots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.

8 And he saith unto them, Drawe out now, and bear unto the governor f of the feast. And they bare it.

9 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants g which drew the water knew:) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,

10 And saith unto him. Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine à until now.

11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested i forth his glory; and his disciples believed k on him.

12 T After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: and they continued there not many days.

13 And the Jews' passover / was at hand, and Jesus m went up to Jerusalem.

14 And found n in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting. 15 And when he had made a Scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured

17 And his disciples remembered that it was written, o The zeal of 9 thine house hath eaten me up.

18 Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What signp showest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?

19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy q this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.

20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?

21 But he spake of the templer of his body.

22 When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he s had said this un'o them: and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.

23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feastday, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did.

21 But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because het knew all men.

8 The wind bioweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: soh is every one that is born of the Spirit.

9 Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be? 10 Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel and knowest not these things?

11 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We i speak that we do know and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.

12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe if I tell you of heavenly things?

13 And k no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.

14 T And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

15 That whosoever m believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

16 For God n so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life,

17 For God o sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

18 Hep that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

19 And this is the condemnation, that light q is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neitherr cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be 2 reproved.

21 But he that doeth s truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

22 After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judea; and there he tarried with them, and baptized.u

23 And John also was baptizing in Enon, near to Salim, v because there was much water there and

they w came, and were baptized. 24 For John r was not yet cast into prison.

25 T Then there arose a question between some of John's disciples and the Jews about purifying. 26 And they came unto John, and said unto him, Rabbi. he that was with thee beyond Jordan, to whom thon barest y witness, behold, the same baptizeth, and all men z come to him.

27 John answered and said, A mana can 3 receive nothing, except it be given im from heaven. 28 Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, b I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him.

29 fie that hath the bride d is the bridegroom: but the friend e of the bridegroom which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled. 30 He must increase, but I must decrease.

31 He that cometh from above fis above all he g that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that conieth from heaven is above all.

32 And what he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth; and no man h receiveth his testimony. 33 He that hath received his testimony hath set i to his seal that God is true.
