karpaga villi is supposed to have been assumed by the poet out of deference to his patron, Bana chief, Ponmendaperumal Magadaipperumal of Aragalur. A VC has no doubt composed... chief is however, refered to as 'ponparappinan' owing to his guilding the Tiruvannamalai temple, while in the ephithet applied to Karpaga Villi, there is a specific referance to the car (Tirutter) of a temple. The establishment of a matha in Tiru....
