VOL. 1.-NO. 1.

OF THE DI WIS II INTBL LIBX OBR.

BY REY. J. S. C. 1. TREY.

The work will be published in monthly numbers, each to contain three sheets, with a cover, so as to make a handsome volume of 600 pages octavo. Price $1 50, to be paid on the delivery of the first number. For every $5 remit. ted, 4 copies will be forwarded.

“ The Jewish Intelligencer is the title of a new monthly publication, the specimen number of which is now lying on our table. The announcement of such a periodical, and conducted too by so able an editor as the Rev. Jos. Samuel C. F. Frey, should be enough to ensure for this work the patronage and support of every individual who feels a spark of sympathy for the remnant of God's people. The plan upon which the work is to be conducted is alike judicious and pleasing. The numbers are to be made up of separate papers on the following topics, containing each subject in its proper location throughout the series, until the topic shall have been dismissed to give place to another. The first number contains the commencement of a series of articles entitled, “History of the Jews since their present dispersion.” The second paper in the series concerning the "Origin, dispersion, and future restoration of the ten tribes." The next is a chapter upon "Jewish Antiquities, or ecclesiastical and civil institutions of the Hebrero nation, until the destruction of Jerusalem by Titus." The fourth is upon “ Modern Judaism.” This is succeeded by an article entitled “ History of the origin and progress of Christian efforts to promote the conversion of the Jews, with the commencement of the present century.” The sixth paper

contains the "Correspondence" of Jewish Missionaries and Christian Missionaries among the Jews; and the seventh and last division of the work is entitled, “Narratives of Converted Jews. The Life and Conversion of the editor forms the commencement of the sketches, and is truly an interesting paper. Each number contains 48 clear and well printed pages, and presents withal the appearance of a substantial work. We take great pleasure in lending our aid in behalf of this work, as entitled to the attention of the community, and sincerely hope that the learned and highly talented editor may not be disappointed in his most sanguine expectations."-Ladies' Morning Star, June, 1836.
