Note. "Purchased July, 1837 of Rood from Bentham's sale." A hand of about 100 years ago assigns the MS to the Xth century. The MS was written in the Abbey of S. Eucharius (?)—and contains poems of Prudentius—also Johannis Scotigenae phisiologia (on the back of the binding wrongly Erigenae). Title Somnium Scipionis-excerptum ex

Mr Reid adds that he does not think this MS so old as xth cent., but that it may be Xith. He looked also at another MS in the Museum (MP. add. 11,942) written in a fine hand of cent. XI. and bearing the autograph of the famous printer Chr. Plantin with date 1579. probably the MS from which he printed his edition of the Somnium.

There are some remarkable coincidences in the readings of Mr Reid's collation (e. g. loqualariter p. 850, 1. 23, and ex eo sit ac se aequetur p. 851, 1. 35), which seem to indicate a common original for this Ms and others of the Somnium.
