ADDENDUM.

MAINE. December 17, 1879, the Gover. nor and Council have announced that, after examining the papers, they have certified the election of 20 Fusion Senators and 11 Republican, and the election of 78 Fusion Assemblymen and 61 Republican. For five cities-Portland, Bath, Lewiston, Rockland and Saco, with twelve representatives-no certificates have been issued. The result of the count is to dissipate the Republican major ty of 7 in the Senate and 29 in the House, and to substitute a Fusion majority of 9 in the Senate and 17 in the Housemaking a net change of 62 votes. As there was no choice of Governor by the people, the Legislature will chose a Governor. Much excitement has followed the action of the Governor and Council. At this date, the result of the controversy is uncertain.

LOUISIANA.-Complete, but unofficial, returns show a majority of 30,751 for Wiltz for Governor, and 10,478 for the ordinance scaling the public debt. The majority for the new Constitution is 59,148, but 26,378 negative votes being returned. The Senate will consist of 5 Republicans and 31 Democrats: and the House of 17 Republicans, 76 Democrats, 2 Independents and 1 Greenbacker. Democratic majority on joint ballot, 82.

The vote was: Senate-Mahone, 23, Withers 13, Williams C. Wickham 3, John W. Daniel 1. House-Mahone 56, Withers 40, Wickham 2. Mahone's vote was made up of 'Readjuster' Democrats and all the Republicans except five.]
