2 Such is thy glorious word, O God,
HYMN 50. C. M.
T What endless glory shines ! For ever be thy name ador'd,
For these celestial lines.
Exhaustless riches find;
And lasting as the mind.
And yields a free repast ; Sublimer sweets than nature knows
Invite the longing taste. 4 Here, the Redeemer's welcome voice
Spreads heav'nly peace around;
"And life and everlasting joy's
Attend the blissful sound.
My ever dear delight;
And still increasing light.
Be thou for ever near ;
HYMN 51. C. M.
Comfort from the Holy Scriptures. I ADEN with guilt, and full of fears, I l fly to thee, my Lord, And not a glimpse of hope appears,
But in thy written word. 2 The volume of my father's grace | Does all my grief assiage ; Here, I behold my Saviour's face,
Almost in every page. 3 This is the field where hidden lies
The pearl of price unknown ; That merchant is divinely wise, | Who makes the pearl his own. 4 Here consecrated water flows,
To quench my thirst of sin ;
Nor danger dwells therein.
Where sense and reason fail ;
Thro' all this gloomy vale:
6 Oh, may thy counsels, mighty God,
My roving feet command, Nor I forsake the happy road That leads to thy right hand.
HYMN 52. C. M. Efficacious Grace. Psa. xlv. 3-5 T AIL' mighty Jesus ! how divine
Is thy victorious sword! The stoutest rebel must resign,
At thy commanding word. 2 Deep are the wounds thine arrows give;
They pierce the hardest heart ; Thy smiles of grace the slain revive,
And joy succeeds to smart
Come with majestic sway;
And make thy foes obey.
When all the chosen race ,
To sing thy conqu’ring grace ;
Among that favor'd band !
IIYMN 53. C. M.
The subject of our songs.
2 Grace reigns to pardon crimson sins,
To melt the hardest hearts !
It never more departs.
Provides the sun and rain ;
The ripen'd harvest grain.
By grace thus far we're come ;
HYMN 54. S. M.
U Harmonious to the ear;
And all the earth shall hear. 2 Grace first contriv'd a way
To save rebellious man,
Who drew the wond'rous plan. [3 Grace first inscrib'd my name
In God's eternal book ; 'Twas grace that gave me to the Lamb,
Who all my sorrows took.] 4 Grace led my roving feet
To tread the heavenly road ;
While pressing on to God.
And made my eyes o’erflow ;
'Twas grace which kept me to this day
And will not let me go.]
Thro' everlasting days;
HYMN 55. L. M.
U Heinous as all your crimes have been,
Sinners invited to come to Christ.
