fast and dinner and tea." And Willy said, "Where is the good cow?" And nurse took him up and carried him a little way, and shewed him a beautiful cow, whose skin was white, with spots of brown upon it; and she stood so still while Willy stroked her, and Willy was delighted to see a long yellow flower hanging out of the corner of the cow's mouth. "That flower is the cow's dinner," said Willy. And nurse said, "Yes; and now Willy must have his dinner." And Willy said, "The flowers won't do for our dinner, nurse; does the cow like them very much?" "Very much indeed," said nurse. "As much as bread and jam?" said Willy. "Quite as much," said nurse.

Willy clapped his hands, and ran round to his papa; and his papa let him sit down beside him, and lean against his knees.

Willy did begin to be hungry when he saw the cloth and the plates, and the knives and forks; but he was very hungry when nurse took a beautiful chicken out of a nice clean cloth, and put it into a dish which she took out of the basket too. Then she took out of the basket a loaf of bread, and a bottle of milk, and another bottle, and a saltcellar tied up in paper that the salt might not spill, and a piece
