Russian titles and for assistance in the arrangement of the Russian section. To Henry W. Elliott, an Alaskan of 1865, and the author of the classics on Alaskan fur seals, for services gratuitously rendered in general Alaskan historical matters, and for a wide research for Russian titles and books. To Harry E. Morton, of Juneau, Alaska, for almost two years' active work, under my direction, in sorting and arranging the cards, the final typing of the manuscript, and the general index attached to the volume.

The officials in the Departments and Bureaus at Washington, D. C., and those in the Government of the Territory of Alaska, have been kind in assisting in finding scarce and out of print books, hearings, and documents, and in aiding me to complete my files of documentary Alaskana. And many persons, with a friendly wish to assist in preserving Alaskan history, have presented me with choice books, papers and other data which they had specially saved from destruction! Το all these my thanks are due.

Juneau, Alaska, August 24, 1927.
