PREFACE.

FORMER series of Acrostics having realised for the Institution* for whose

benefit it was issued a sum of more than Fifty Guineas, the present volume, similar in plan, is published with the object and hope of adding still further to the funds of that excellent charity. The poetical selections have reference to the words sought for in each Acrostic, and have been taken from various authors generally known.
