tidings of great joy which shall be to all people; for unto you is born this day, in the city of David, a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you: ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes lying in a manger.” And as the angel spoke, a great many more angels came down from heaven, and they all began to sing, and to praise God, saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace-good-will towards men." D. And did the shepherds go to see Jesus, Mamma? Mamma. Yes, my dear child; as soon as the angels were gone back into heaven, the shepherds left their flocks, and went to the stable, that they might see the little baby of whom the angels had told them; and there they found him, lying in the manger among the hay. When they had seen him, they told Mary what the angels had said to them. After this they went back to their flocks, K singing songs of praise to God for all the things that they had heard and seen. LESSON II. THE WISE MEN. D. When I saw the man shearing the sheep this morning, Mamma, it made me think of the shepherds who came to visit Jesus Christ when he was a little baby in the stable. I liked that story very much, and should like to hear another. Mamma. Then I will tell one about the Wise Men. Soon after Jesus Christ was born, some wise men, who lived in a country a long way off, saw a very bright star shining up in the sky, and they knew by this star that Jesus Christ was born. D. And did they come to see him, Mamma? Mamma. They did not know at first where to look for him; so they went to the city in which the king of the country lived, to inquire whether Jesus was there, and to ask the people where they might find him. As they went along they said, "Where is he that is born king of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the East, and are come to worship him." D. Did the king tell them where to find him, Mamma?
