PREFACE.

THE present volume, the necessary and natural supplement of the FIRST EXERCISE BOOK, is intended to offer the student a collection of sentences referring to all the Parts of Speech, with the exception of the Verb.

The various Exercises contained in this new book, are to show the learner whether he is able to apply practically what he has before learnt only in theory, in other words, the Rules laid down in §§ 158— 275. To the Exercises on the several Parts of Speech there has, in most cases, been added a final Exercise which, by its longer periods and more complicated syntactical construction, is likely to present somewhat more difficulty.
