have done and not to leave the others undone.

I know not if there be any thing in this Life, that may ferve to convince Unbelievers of the Truth of our Religion. When the Apostles first preach'd the Gofpel to the World, GoD wrought with them, bearing them Witnefs, both with Signs and Wonders and with divers Miracles, fuch as cafting out of Devils, healing all manner of Diseases, fpeaking with new Tongues, and the like, by which Men were convinced that the Power of GOD was with them, and the Truth

Truth of GOD preached by them, which he thus attefted. But when all these are accomplifh'd in the Spiritual and more perfect Senfe, should they not be as convincing Arguments, to Men of Reafon, of the Power of GOD thro Faith in Chrift? When Unclean Spirits are caft out, and Spiritual Wickedness fubdued, when the Soul is healed of all its Diseases, when it is cleansed and purified from the Leprofy of Sin which defiled the whole Man; when all the old filthy, vain or worldly Converfation is laid afide, and the Mouth filled with the Praises

Praises of GÓD and with things moft Divine, which is to speak with New Tongues from a New Heart, is not the Finger of GOD vifible there? Let those who disbelieve, reflect on themfelves and fee if they can account for this mighty Change otherwife than by the mighty Power of GOD? the great Infidelity of Men in these laft Times, does no doubt proceed in great measure from the want of true Faith in those who pretend to believe. A Form of Godliness without the Power of it, will never convince Unbelievers that there is any thing Divine in

that

that Religion, the Lives of whofe Profeffors differ little or nothing from their own. But if this Power did accompany and enliven the Form, how Beautiful would it be, and what a powerful Argument to convince those who believe not, who would be forc'd to confefs that God is in us of a Truth. Were there more real Chriftians there would be fewer Infidels. If this Collection fhall contribute any thing to the making Christians become in reality what they are in Profeffion, or ferve to convince those who believe not that there is fomething more in the Chri

ftian Religion than they imagin'd, the Tranflator and Publifher have their Wilh. And, Reader, if thou shalt reap any Benefit by it, give the Glory to GOD, and remember them in thy Prayers.
