BASIL. Sm. 4to. 1518. Gr. et Lat. Frobenii.

A rare edition, copies of which are of little value except they are in good condition: at Steevens's sale, London, a copy sold for £1. 188. Froben published a reimpression of this edition, octavo size, in 1524: at d'O...'s sale a copy sold for 7s. 6d. Brunet, Manuel, t. i. p. 19. This bibliographer calls this edition a 4to. but it is generally considered an 8vo.; and he appears to have been ignorant of the following editions: BASIL. 1521, 23, 26, and 44. (ET GABRIÆ FABELLÆ, &c.) Gr. et Lat. Frobenii. 7s. Vid. Harles, Introd. L. G. t. i.

Froben published a beautiful edition at Basil, in 8vo. the same year. 7s.

PARIS. 4to. 1546. Græce. Rob. Stephani.

A beautiful and rare edition. A copy at Dr. Askew's sale brought £2. 10s. ; but is commonly sold from 7s. to 10s. Brunet, Manuel, t. i. p. 19. Clement (t. i. p. 70.) calls this "Edition fort rare.' It was preceded by four editions, in Latin, printed in 1527, 1529, (“ Editio omnino accurata et rara. Bibl. Sarraz. part iii. p. 30.) 1537 and 1545, in 8vo. Quidquid agit, (says Maittaire, alluding to R. Stephens,) "valdè agit, nil perfunctiore, aut oscitanter." Vita Stephanor. p. 49. 14s.

A beautiful copy of the latter edition, elegantly bound in yellow morocco, brought 9s. at Méon's sale. Brunet, Manuel, t. i. p. 20.

LIPS. 8vo. 1781. Græce. Ernesti.

A good and useful edition, containing some notes by Ernesti, and a valuable index. It is to be regretted, says he, that this edition was printed on such very bad paper. Répertoire, t. i. p. 78. See Harles, Fabr. B. G. lib. ii. c. 9. 3s. 6d.
