1. SAMUEL SEABURY, consecrated Bishop of Connecticut (and first Bishop of the American Church) at Aberdeen, Scotland, on the 14th
November 1784, by the Scotch Bishops Kilgour, Petrie, and Skinner. Bishop Seabury was Presiding Bishop, Oct. 2, 1789; Senior Bishop,
1789-1796. He was first Bishop of Rhode Island, Nov. 18, 1790, to decease, Feb. 25, 1796. He was in orders 42 years, and assisted at one
consecration, viz: that of Bishop Claggett.
