Diocesan and Parochial

Diocesan officers of national organizations, such as Woman's Auxiliary, Girls' Friendly Society, Daughters of the King, Brotherhood of St. Andrew, etc., and also officers of Church Clubs and of Sunday School organizations, are printed in the department of Official and General Institutions, beginning page 129. 1

The statistics of each Diocese and Missionary Jurisdiction have been compiled in nearly every case, from the official statistics given in their respective journals, and the sheets have been revised by Bishops or Secretaries of the Dioceses, to the latest moment possible. The numbers following the name of a Parish indicate the reported number of Communicants therein. The Clergy will confer a favor by forwarding corrections to be made in the next issue of THE LIVING CHURCH ANNUAL promptly to the office of the MOREHOUSE PUBLISHING CO., 1801 Fond du Lac Avenue, Milwaukee, Wis.

Names of clergymen recorded are confined to those officially reported in diocesan journals, or otherwise certified to the publishers as in good standing in some American diocese. Titles of Institutions enclosed in quotation marks are those of legal corporations.

ARRANGEMENT OF PAROCHIAL LISTS.

Each clergyman's name appears ONCE under the head either of "Parishes, Missions, and Clergy", or "Non-Parochial Clergy", in the Diocese with which he is canonically connected. Where one of his cures is also his P. O. address, his name will there be found. If he has no cure at his P. O. address, his name will appear at his cure, with his P. O. in parentheses. Lesser points ministered to by the same clergyman will have references in italic to his main cure. Thus:

"Alpine, Trinity, r. Jacksonville."

This reference in italics indicates that the rector of Jacksonville is in charge of Trinity Church, Alpine. His name will be found by looking at "Jacksonville". This obviates the delays, expense, and annoyance of sending mail matter for the rector of Jacksonville to his lesser cure at Alpine.

Where the P. O. is not the same as the principal cure, it is designated thus:
Oakdale, Grace, Jas. T. McCaa (Mobile).

This shows that the missionary at Oakdale resides at Mobile, but has no charge in the latter city.

This method has the advantage of showing at a glance the correct P. O. address of each of the clergy in any given Diocese, and also shows which is the principal, and which the lesser, charge of any one clergyman,

r.-rector; m.=minister, missionary; loc. ten. locum tenens; rec. emer.=rector emeritus; rec. hon.=rector honorarius; off.=officiating; cur.=curate.
