Reports were presented by the Committees to visit the Academical Department, the Divinity School, the Medical and Dental Schools, the Law School, the Observatory, the Library, the Botanic Garden and the Herbarium; and these reports were referred in course to the Committee on Reports and Resolutions.

MEETING OF NOVEMBER 17, 1881. Special meeting. - Voted, to concur with the President and Fellows in changing the title of the instructorship in the Dental School now held by CHARLES SEDGWICK MINOT, S.D., to that of Instructor in Oral Anatomy and Pathology.

Also in appointing THOMAS SERJEANT PERRY, A. M., University Lecturer upon English Literature for the current academic year.

The reports of the Committee to visit the Lawrence Scientific School and the Bussey Institution, the Peabody Museum of American Archaeology and Ethnology, and the Museum of Comparative Zoology were presented and referred in course to the Committee on Reports and Resolutions. The President and Fellows presented a communication as follows:

"Whereas the President and Fellows have been asked if they would accept a fund the income of which shall be ultimately used for the medical education of women; Voted, to consult the Board of Overseers anew upon the expediency of the University undertaking that function."

Meeting of DECEMBER 8, 1881. — An adjourned meeting.

The Board concurred with the President and Fellows in appointing SERENO WATSON, Ph.D., Curator of the Herbarium and Instructor in Phytography.

The report of the Committee on Reports and Resolutions was presented and accepted.

The resolution previously offered and specially assigned to this meeting was taken up; viz., "That in the opinion of this Board the statutes making attendance on morning prayers and other religious exercises compulsory should be repealed." After discussion the Board refused to adopt the resolution.
