2 On him, the Spirit, largely pour'u,

Exerts his sacred fire ;
Wisdom, and pow'r, and zcal, and love,

His holy breast inspire.
3 He comes, from thickest films of vice,

To clear the mental sight;
And on the eyeballs of the blind

To pour celestial light.
| 4 He comes, the broken heart to heal,

The bleeding soul to cure;
And with the treasure of his

s grace
"T enrich the humble poor
5 He comes, the prisoners to release,

In Satan's bondage held;
The gates of brass before him, burst,

The iron fetters yield.
6 His silver trumpet loud proclaims

The Lord's accepted year ;
Our debts are all remilled now,

Our heritage is clear.
7 Oer glad kosannah, Prince of Peace,

Thy welcome shall proclaim; sind heaven's eternal arches ring

With thy beloved name.

Hymn 294. C. M.

Farewel Hymn.
1 Ye pilgrims that are wand'ring home,

Ye followers of the Lamb;
Sweeter to me than honey.comb

Is Christ's despised name.
2. You've heard the gospel trumpet sound,

Take you the alarm and fly;
Arise, and unļo-Christ be gone,

For there is danger nigh.

3 Let us with undissembled love,

Like children, hand in hand,
March to our Father's house above,

And to the promis'd land. 4 Ye little flocks, I bid adieu,

Our parting is 10-day;
Oh, may we all to Christ prove true,

And always watch and pray. 5 And if we meet no more below,

Let us our lamps prepare, To mect when the last trump shall sound,

And in his kingdom share. 6 We need not wait but few days more;

Soon we shall meet above; Where fear of parting ne'er shall come,

In that sweet world of love.
7 And there with Christ in paradise,

We shall for ever dwell;
Then let us pray, both night and day,

So, brethren, fare you well!

A TABLE,

TO FIND AN AYWN BY THE FIRST LINE.

ABSURD and vain attempt! to bind
A charge to keep I have
Ah, where am I now
Ah, tell us no inore
Ah, wretched souls, who strive in vain
Afflicted saint, :o Christ draw near
Alas! how chang'd that lovely flower
Alas, what hourly dangers rise
Almighty Maker, God
Alınighty sovereign of the skies
Although on massy pillars built
Along the banks where Babel's current flows
All-seeing God, 'tis thine to know
All.conquering faith! how high it ros6
All hail the pow'r of Jesus' name
At this unwonted hour, behold
All hail, victorious Saviour, bail

that
Am I a soldier of the cross
And will the Lord. Almighty God
And now, my soul, another year
And am I born to die
And can my heart aspire so high
And let this feeble body fail
And is the gospel peace and love
Angels, roll the stone away
Arise, my soul, arise
As a Shepberd gently leads
Away with our fears
away my unbelieving fear
