It is hoped that the Notes may be found to afford sufficient help to the young student. They are written with the idea of supplementing not supplanting Dictionary and Grammar, and help is, as a rule, only given where the meaning is not fairly obvious, or where experience shews that mistakes are common. If they are at all adequate a Vocabulary should not be needed: it is therefore not added.
