discharge the faid principal fums of eight hundred thousand pounds, and one million and thirty-three thousand pounds, and all intereft as aforefaid, and publication thereof, in the manner to be directed by the faid act of this feffion of parliament, the faid rates and duties hereby impofed fhall from thenceforth ceafe and determine, and be no longer paid or payable; and all the rules and regulations of this act fhall alfo from thenceforth ceafe and determine, except as to the recovery of any arrears of the faid rates or duties which may at that time have accrued or grown due, or to any fine, penalty, or forfeiture, which may have been then incurred.

XIV. And whereas the inhabitants of many parishes or places have frequently fuffered by the frauds and infolvency of their collectors, by being fubjected to re-affeffments for monies embezzled by them; be it enacted and declared by the authority aforefaid, That fuch perfons as fhall be nominated to be collectors of the faid Collectors of former rates and duties fhall, if required fo to do, give good and former duties fufficient fecurity to any three or more of the commiffioners for to give fecuri ty, ifrequired; carrying this act into execution, equal to the amount of the whole failing of rate to be collected in each diftrict, for their duly paying to the which, the receiver general fuch monies as shall come to their hands, which commiffioners fecurity the faid commiflioners, or any three or more of them, may appoint are hereby authorised and impowered to take; and on failure of the perfons fo named to be collectors as before directed giving fuch fecurity, if required, the faid commiffioners, or any three or more of them, fhall be at liberty, and are hereby authorised to appoint any other two or more fufficient perfons, who can give fuch fecurity as aforefaid, refiding within the limits and bounds of the parishes, townships, conftablewicks, and places where they fhall be chargeable, to be collectors of the faid former rates and duties.

CAP. VIII.

An act to indemnify fuch perfons as have omitted to qualify themselves for offices and employments; and to indemnify juftices of the peace, or others, who have omitted to regifter or deliver in their qualifications within the time limited by law, and for giving further time for those purposes; and to indemnify members and officers, in cities, corpora tions, and borough towns, whofe admiffions have been omitted to be ftamped according to law, or, having been ftamped, have been loft or millaid, and for allowing them time to provide admiffions duly ftamped; to give further time to fuch perfons as have omitted to make and file affidavits of the execution of indentures of clerks to attornies and folicitors; and for indemnifying deputy lieutenants and officers of the militia, who have neglected to tranfmit deferiptions of their qualifications to the clerks of the peace within the time limited by law, and for giving further time for that purpose.

twenty eighth year of his Majefty's reign, intituled, An act for
removing any doubt refpecting the power of the commiflion-
ers for the affairs of India, to direct that the expence of raifing,
tranfporting, and maintaining, fuch troops as may be judged
necellary for the fecurity of the British territories and poflef-
fions in the East Indies, fhould be defrayed out of the revenues
arifing from the faid territories and poffeffions; and for limiting
the application of the faid revenues in the manner therein men-
tioned, as relates to fuch directions as shall be given or approved by
the faid commiffioners with respect to the payment of certain propor-
tions of his Majesty's forces in India, and of the European forces
of the Eaft India company, therein fpecified.

7HEREAS by an act, paffed in the twenty-eighth year of the reign of his prefent Majesty, (intituled, An act for removing any doubt reípecting the power of the commiffioners for the affairs of India, to direct that the expence of raifing, transporting, and maintaining, fuch troops as may be judged neceflary for the fecurity of the British territories and poffeffions in the East Indies, fhould be defrayed out of the revenues arifing from the faid territories and poffeffions; and for limiting the application of the faid revenues in the manner therein mentioned), it is, amongst other things, provided and enacted, That it shall not be lawful for the faid commiffioners to give or approve any fuch direction as in the faid act is mentioned, with refpect to the payment of any greater number of his Majefty's forces, or of the European forces of the East India company, than is therein specified refpectively: and whereas, by reason of the prefent war in India, it is become expedient, that a further number of his Majesty's forces fhould now be fent to the East Indies, in addition to thofe, the payment of which the faid commiffioners are by the faid act authorised to direct and approve; may it therefore pleafe your Majefty that it may be enacted; and be it enacted by the
