Examination earlier than his eighth term shall be excused the

12. The examination for the Natural Sciences Tripos (second part) shall commence upon the Thursday after the last Sunday in May.

13. If Ascension Day fall upon any of the days fixed for one of the Honours Examinations, there shall be no examination on Ascension Day, but all the examinations affected by these regulations which begin not later than Ascension Day shall begin one day earlier (exclusive of Sunday) than is here provided.

14. The Class Lists for the Classical Tripos (first and Class Lists
second parts) shall be published on the Saturday after the
second Sunday in June at 9 A.M.

15. The Class List for the Natural Sciences Tripos (first when
part) shall be published on the Wednesday after the last
Sunday in May, or on the Tuesday after the last Sunday in
May if the following Thursday be Ascension Day.

16. The Class Lists for the Moral Sciences Tripos, to be Natural Sciences Tripos (second part), Law Tripos and Historical Tripos shall be published not later than 9 A.M. on the Friday after the second Sunday in June.

1. The Examiners for Honours in any Tripos shall be authorized to declare Candidates, though they may an Ordinary not have deserved honours, to have acquitted themselves so as to deserve an Ordinary Degree, or so as to deserve to be excused the General Examination for the B.A. Degree. Such Candidates may be admitted to the B.A. Degree without further examination, or after passing one of the Special Examinations for the Ordinary Degree respectively.

2. If a Candidate for Honours in any Tripos be prevented by illness or any other sufficient cause from attending part of the Examination for such Tripos, the Examiners shall be authorized, if such Candidate shall have Generix acquitted himself so far with credit, to declare him to have deserved Honours, and such Candidate shall be deemed to have obtained Honours in such examination. The Examiners shall also be authorized to declare such Candidate to have acquitted himself so as to deserve an Ordinary Degree, or so as to deserve to be excused the General Examination for the Ordinary Degree.

3. Honours shall be required to send to the Registrary before
the commencement of the Examination Certificates of the Certificates.
Terms kept by such Candidates, signed and sealed by the Heads
of those Colleges or their proper deputies. The Council
shall be empowered further to ascertain whether the Can-
didates have passed the Previous Examination according to
the rules prescribed for it; and shall make known to the Notice to
Examiners in each case, as soon as may be after the com- ners.

who are duly qualified in point of standing and other circum-

Secretary of Honours Examinations.

1. That a Secretary of Honour Examinations be appointed.

2. That it be the duty of the aforesaid Secretary to
superintend all the material arrangements for the holding of
such Examinations, with the exception of those for the
Mathematical and Classical Triposes, issue due notices to all
persons concerned, prepare lists of candidates, see that the
certificates of candidates (where such are required) are in
order, summon meetings of Examiners, be present if required
at the meeting of Examiners at which any final list is settled,
see that the lists are published in due form, and generally
do all that is required for the regular conduct of the Exa-
minations, but not so as to interfere with the duties of
Examiners.

3. That the aforesaid Secretary be appointed by the
Vice-Chancellor, and be removeable by the same authority.
4. That the aforesaid Secretary be paid £50 a year out
of the University chest.

5. That the office be established in the first instance for
three years.

By Grace 19 May 1881 (Report 9 May 1881) the duty of receiving the names and certificates of candidates for the M.B. Examinations was added to the above duties.

A Report of the Special Board for Mathematics, dated 3 Dec. 1884, proposes that Part I. of the Mathematical Tripos shall begin on the Thursday before Part I. of the Classical Tripos, and Part II. on the same day as Part II, of the Natural Sciences Tripos.
