New Series of Theological Works for the Use of Students.

MR J. DEIGHTON (of Cambridge) and MESSRS JOHN W. PARKER and SON (of West Strand, London) beg to announce their intention of publishing a series of THEOLOGICAL WORKS for the use of Students in the Universities and other Divinity Schools, and of Candidates for Holy Orders.

They are led to do so, because by recent changes a more systematic knowledge of the various branches of Theology is required both from Divinity Students and from Candidates for Holy Orders. A demand has thus been created for books which are not to be met with in

present list of Theological Literature-more solid than mere compendiums, and less voluminous than the original writings of our standard English Divines. By the intended series, the Publishers desire to contribute towards the supply of this acknowledged want.

They believe that the names of the writers who have undertaken the various works will be a sufficient guarantee that nothing in their pages will be found to deviate from the teaching of the Church of England.

Although a uniform plan will be followed throughout, yet it is to be understood that each Author is responsible

only for the opinions contained in his own works.

The following Works are in progress, and others will be announced as soon as pending arrangements are completed.

An Introduction to the Study of the Old Testament. By ALFRED BARRY, M.A., F.R.S.E. Subwarden of Trinity College, Glenalmond, and late Fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge.

Phraseological and Explanatory Notes on the Hebrew Text of the Book of Genesis. By the Rev. THEODORE PRESTON, M.A., Fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge.

A Commentary upon the Greek Text of the Epistles of St Paul: for the Use of Students. Conducted by several Fellows of St John's College, Cambridge. To be followed by a Commentary on other parts of the New Testament.

A Historical and Explanatory Treatise on the Book of Common Prayer. By the Rev. W. G. HUMPHRY, B.D., Fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge, and Examining Chaplain to the Lord Bishop of London.

The History and Theology of the "Three Creeds." By the Rev. WILLIAM WIGAN HARVEY, M.A., Rector of Buckland, Herts, and late Fellow of King's College, Cambridge.

An Exposition of the XXXIX Articles, derived from the Writings of the Older Divines. By the Rev. W. B. HOPKINS, M.A., Fellow and Tutor of St Catharine's Hall, and formerly Fellow of Caius College, Cambridge.
