[In this periodical first appeared eight letters by Thackeray, which were afterwards re-edited and published in the "Paris Sketch Book," 2 vol., London, 1840. These letters were, as Thackeray says himself, his "first appearance before an American public." John Camden Hotten reprinted them after Thackeray's death, under the title of "The Student's Quarter."
