THIS CATALOGUE was finished at Aldenham on the thirtieth day of
November, in the Year of Our Lord eighteen hundred and eighty-eight: But
"of making many books there is no end," saith the Preacher (Eccl. xii. 12);
and there is yet room for more on its pages. Like Alexander Barclay's
"firste fole of all the hole navy," in his Shyp of Folys (1509)—

"Styll am I besy bokes assemblynge,

For to have plenty it is a plesaunt thynge

In my conceyt, and to have them ay in honde."

HENRY HUCKS GIBBS.
