6 Praise Him, ye meek and humble train
Ye saints, whom his decrees ordain
The boundless bliss to share;
O praise Him till ye take your way
To regions of eternal day,

[ocr errors]

And reign for ever there!

13. C. M. Dr. Watts.

Psalın lxxxvi. 8, 15.

the

There's none hath pow'r divine; Nor is their nature, mighty Lord, Nor are their works like thine. 2 The nations thou hast made, shall bring Their off'rings round thy throne; For thou alone dost wondrous things, For thou art God alone.

3 Lord, I would walk with holy feet;
Teach me thine heav'nly ways;
And my poor scatter'd thoughts unite
In God my Father's praise.

4 Great is thy mercy, and my tongue
Shall those sweet wonders tell,
How by thy grace my sinking soul
Rose from the deeps of hell.

14. Sevens. Mr. Wesley.

Praise.

MEET and right it is to sing

Glory to our God and King;

Meet in every time and place,
To rehearse his solemnu praise.
2 Join, ye saints, with awe profound;
Angels, help the solemn sound;
Publish through the world abroad,
Glory to th' eternal God!

3 Praises here, to thee we give;
Gracious thou our thanks receive;
Holy Father, sov'reign Lord,
Ev'ry where be thou ador'd'

15. S. M. Dr. Watts.

Sincere Praise.

LMIGHTY Maker, God! How wondrous is thy naine! Thy glories how diffus'd abroad Through the creation's frame!

2 Nature in every dress

Her humble homage pays, And finds a thousand ways t' express Thine undissembled praise.

3 My soul would rise and sing To her Creator too,

Fain would my tongue adore my King,
And pay the homage due.

4 Let joy and worship spend
The remnant of my days,
And to my God, my soul ascend
In grateful songs of praise.

16. P. M.

Praise to the Creator.

HOW

OW can we adore,
Or worthily praise

Thy mercy and power,
Thou God of all grace

With honour and blessing
Before thee we fall,

Most gladly confessing

Thee Father of all!

The heavens and earth,
And water and air,
To thee owe their birth,
Subsist by thy care.
While angels are singing
Thy praises above,
We mortals are bringing
Our tribute of loves

17. L. M. Dr. Watts.

Praise for Creation, Providence, and Grace. Psalın cxlvii. 1-5, 11.

1

PRAISE ye the Lord; 'tis good to raise

hearts and voices in his praise

H.s nature and his works invite
To make this duty our delight.
2 The Lord builds up Jerusalem,
And gathers nations to his name:
His mercy melts the stubborn soul,
And makes the broken spirit whole.

3 He form'd the stars, those heav'nly flames;
He counts their numbers, calls their names:
His wisdom's vast, and knows no bound,
A deep where all our thoughts are drown'd.
4 Great is our Lord, and great his might:
And all his glories infinite;

He crowns the meek, rewards the just,
And treads the wicked to the dust.
5 His saints are lovely in his sight;
He views his children with delight;
He sees their hope, he knows their fear
And looks and loves his image there.

18. L. M. Dr. Watts.

Universal Praise to God. Psalm cxlviii.

[dwell:

1L From distant worlds where creatures
OUD hallelujahs to the Lord
Let heav'n begin the solemn word,
And sound it dreadful down to hell.
2 The Lord! how absolute he reigns!
Let ev'ry angel bend the knee;
Sing of his love in heav'nly strains,
And speak how fierce his terrors be!
3 Wide as his vast dominion lies

Make the Creator's name be known;
Loud as his thunder shout his praise,
And sound it lofty as his throne.

4 Jehovah! 'tis a glorious word!

O may it dwell on ev'ry tongue!
But saints who best have known the Lord,
Are bound to raise the noblest song.

5 Speak of the wonders of that love
Which Gabriel plays on ev'ry chord;
From all below, and all above,
Loud hallelujahs to the Lord!

PRAISE FOR PROVIDENTIAL

BLESSINGS.

19. P. M. Mr. Oliver.

Praise to the God of Abraham.

THE

HE God of Abraham praise,
Who reigns enthron'd above;
Ancient of everlasting days,
And God of Love!

Jehovah, great I AM!

By earth and heaven confest,
I bow and bless the sacred name,
For ever bless'd.

2 The God of Abraham praise,
At whose supreme command,
From earth I rise and seek the joys
At his right-hand.

I'd all on earth forsake,

Its wisdom, fame, and power!
Ard him my only portion make,
My shield and tower.

3 The God of Abraham praise,
Whose ali-sufficient grace
Shall guide me all my happy days
In all his ways:

He calls a worm his friend;
He calls himself my God!
And he shail save me to the end,
Through Jesu's blood.

4 He by himself hath sworn;
I on his oath depend;

I shall on eagle's wings up-borne,
To heaven ascend:
