of India, in all of which, the author has with incredible industry, and in very elegant language, condensed the information which lay widely diffused through multitudes of volumes both of ancient and modern authors. The purchaser of Oriental MSS. must not expect to find the title of the work either at the beginning or in a head-line: the latter practice is never followed by the Asiatics, and but very rarely the former. The name of the work 'however, may be frequently found at the conclusion, with the year, month, day, and transcriber's name. At the end of several very elegantly written MSS. the following couplet is found, which is both harmonious and expressive, and with it I shall beg the reader's leave to conclude the present work.. نوشته بهاند سیاه بر سفید نویسنده را نیست فردا امید Neweshteh benand, seeah ber sefeed, In black upon white the work shall remain; تبت الكتاب بعون الملك الوهاب Temetu'l' kitâb biawuni'l' muluki'l' wahâb.
