Fine set. The excessively rare Poems of 1851 is a fine copy, and has the rare errata slip, whtch is often wanting Jump to Glory Jane is one of the Japanese vellum issue of 100 copies, and is bound in the original vellum.

The extremely rare FIRST EDITION of Pascal's immortal Provincial Letters. Perfect and very fine copy, with broad margins, and a number of rough leaves. Le Petit, in his Bibliographie des Editions Originales d'Ecrivains Francais des 15e au 18e siècle, gives a facsimile of the title-page, and a full collation of the work. At the Montgermont sale a copy in morocco by Chambolle-Duru sold for 445 1r.; the same copy was resold in 1877 for 510 fr. The Potier copy, in morocco, by Trautz, sold for 345 fr., and was resold at Benzon sale for 520 fr.

A VERY FINE, UNCUT AND PERFECT COPY OF THE FIRST EDITION. Has the dedication to Harriet; also the original title-page (which is nearly always lacking), while the last leaf, containing the imprint, is intact and unmutilated in this copy. 250 copies were printed, of which about 70 were put in circulation. The name of the printer [occurring on the title and last leaf] were cut out of nearly all copies for fear of prosecution." Cambridge Edition, 1901. Mr. French's uncut copy brought $460.

conjunction with H. Halhed and published in August, 1771, at the age of twenty. The book was a failure (see Allibone), and was never separately reissued, the poems not making their second appearance until eighty years later, in a volume with the Elegies of Propertius, the Satyricon of Petronius Arbiter, etc.

Has the rare half-title and the EXTRA LEAF between "A2" and "B1." containing Errata" on one side and the "Dramatis Personæ " on the other. This leaf was evidently an afterthought, caused by errors being discovered in the text during publication. It is almost always lacking. The McKee copy, with margins of two leaves cut close, brought $200.

There can be little doubt that this interesting MS. was written PRIOR TO THE PUBLICATION OF THE PLAY, which was not issued until 1785, eight years after its first production. From 1785 on there were any number of cheap piratical reprints on the market any of which could have been bought for a few pence if the text were needed for any purpose,
