FORTH HYMN 237. L. M. Night. •THEE in the watches of the night, And meditate, with calın delight, On the dear counsels of thy will? 2 Thy will is my perfection here ; And s.ghs for this my whole desire; HYMN 238. C. M. Before a Journey. 1 at thy call, oh Lord, I go, Thy counsel to fulfil; 'Tis all my business here below Father, to do thy will. 2 To do thy will while here I make My short unfix'd abode; An everlasting home I seek, A city built by God. The land of proinised ease, This howling wilderness! For whom alone I sigh; HYMN 239. C. M. On a Journey. SAVIOUR, who ready art to hear, Answer my scarcely uttered prayer, And meet me on the way. HYMN 240. C. M. After a Journey. ·THOL Lord, hast blessed my going out, Compass my weakness round about, And keep me safe from sin. Thy tabernacle spread; And guard my naked head. 3 To thee for refuge may I run, From sin's alluring snare, And watching unto prayer. 4 O that I never, never more Might from thy ways depart! By giving thee my heart. 5 Fix my new heart on things above, And then from strife release : HYMN 241. C. M. The sorrowful Pilgrim, Whose eyes all day o'erflow, The night for farther woe: Thy solemn moments spend, That pain, with life, shall end. 2 My comforts are all blasted, My comforter is gone; o that I ne'er had known! The gourd, which soothed my anguish, Is withered o'er my head, To sink among the dead. 3 From all I suffer here, If God my sins forgive, From all I feel, and fear, I there, redeemed, shall live : No serpent to deceive me, No ein to stain my thought, Where all things are forgot. 4 No Heart distracting passion Is tHere to break my peace; And love without excess: I shall go longer mourn; The rose without a thorn. 5 In hope of that salvation, I feel a mament's rest: Has stole into my breast; I struggle to be gone, HYMN 242. P. M. Fix here thy hope's foundation; The Rock of thy salvation. And calm thy perturbation : The Rock of thy salvation. 3 When earth's prospects fail thee, let it not dis. tress, Better comforts with thee; Christ will freely To Jesus flee, thy prop he'll be, Thy heavenly consolation: Tb: Rock of thy salvation bless; 4 Dangers may approach thee, let them not alarm. Christ will ever watch thee, and protect from harm, To ward off each temptation : The Rock of thy salvation. 5 Let not death alarm thee, shrink not from his blow, For thy God shall arm thee, and victory bestow For death shall bring to thee no sting, The grave no desolation : HYMN 243. C. M. D. With glory in his view; And bids the world adieu ; And loath to let him go; And leaves them all below! To cross the swelling flood ? And see your smiling God: Attract my soul above; When perfected in love. I'm bound to meet you there; Be bold, and never fear: (Your Captain is in view;) I hope to meet with you. Now let the echo fly; While they repeat the song above, Through armies in the sky, Who died for you and me! And shout'eternally. Until we meet again, Above the fiery main; In presence of the Lamb, In love's eternal flane, HYMN 244. L. M. 1 Bleeding to death for wretched me, Satan and sin no more can move, For I am all transform'd to love. 2 His thorns and nails pierce through my heart In every groan I bear a part; But see! he bows his head and dies! Wounded, and dead, and bathed in bl bod The well of endless life is here. I drink, yet still my thirst remains: Can satisfy the thirst of love. Lord, more and more thy love reveal; The grace and glory of thy name. Revives my heart, and charms my ear; |
