SWIMMING, with lists of books published in English, German, French, and other European languages, and critical remarks on the Theory and Practice of Swimming and Resuscitation, Biography, History and Bibliography.

BY RALPH THOMAS. Demy 8vo, fancy cloth. 126 Illustrations. 488 pp. 10s. 6d. net. SAMPSON Low, MARSTON & Co., Limited, London.

This book has had such universal approval from the English and foreign press that it is not necessary to quote reviews, but a number will be found in The Athenæum, 25th June, 1904, 23rd July, 1904; The Publishers' Circular, 2nd, 16th, 30th July, and 13th August, 1904. A pamphlet will be sent on receipt of a Jd. addressed envelope.

The work is intended to be a model of a bibliography not only as to the lists of books, but how a subject should be treated and manner of printing. When after some years' work the bibliography had been carefully compiled, it was found that a sort of history of the subject had developed itself, so that the theory and practice of swimming are both treated of. A history of the art of reanimating the apparently drowned and of the Royal Life Saying Society are given.

Biographical particulars are given of every author mentioned, as well as an estimate of the value of every work.
