From a letter of Vaughan, resident for Henry VIII. at Antwerp, preserved in Cotton MSS., it appears that the king was very anxious to prevent the appearance of this work, and that Tyndale would have suppressed it, but had given the manuscript out of his hand.

Tyndale's Pathway to Scripture. This is the prologue to the first edition of the N. T. printed at Cologne in 1526, with two introduc tory paragraphs added and some variations, by Fox. It is probable that there was a separate edition, but no copy is known to exist.

The Works of the English Reformers: William Tyndale, and John Frith. Edited by Thomas Russell, A.M. London, 1831. 8vo. 3 vols. Published at 17. 11s. 6d. Some copies were taken off on large paper. These three volumes are all that are published of an intended Edition of the works of the most

eminent English and Scotch reformers, the publisher, as he informs us in the preface, being obliged to relinquish his design in consequence of the abridgments made of them by the Religious Tract Society. They can tain several pieces not in Fox's edition, and are reprinted from the original editions, a subject of some importance, as Fox has taken great liberties with the text.
