Concerning the translator Johannes Hispalensis or Hispanus, see Fabric. Bibl. Med. et Infim. Latin. T. iv. p. 84. The treatise is probably spurious. It was printed in Latin in 4to, sine loco et anno: and in English* by Robert Copland, 1528, who attributes the translation to the above-mentioned Philippus. See Gg. iv. 29, § 1.

The last two prophecies are in a later hand.

This contains the Gesta Pilati, the Descensus Christi ad Inferos, with the letter of Pilate to Claudius, and the account of the death of Pilate. This last is very different from that given in Tischendorf's Evangelia Apocrypha.

Begins :

This is the same treatise as Ff. II. 8. § 2. There are copies in MSS. in various libraries, but it does not seem to have been printed. There is a Dutch edition of it, printed at Culemberg in 1483, for an account of which see Dibdin's Biblioth. Spencer. 1. p. 348 sqq.

On f. 57b occurs a record of the birth of William Carpenter, with the date 1573, and on ff. 92, 93 some accounts have been written, but are now nearly effaced.

There are numerous corrections of this MS. in a different hand. It is mentioned by Knight, p. 173 note.

The last two leaves are occupied by a note on the 9 orders of angels, and a list of things arranged in threes, e. g. Spes, fides, caritas: radix, calamus, arista, &c.

Gg. IV. 27.

A folio, on parchment, 488 leaves, about 38 lines in a page; handwriting of the early part of the xvth century, well written. The original illuminations have been abstracted, but the deficiencies thus created in the MS. are supplied in a good modern hand. In addition to the above, are inserted (after fol. 482 b) fourteen smaller leaves, also on parchment, in a hand of the xivth century. Excluding these the volume may be described as
