THIS Church consists of fifty-eight Dioceses and seventeen Missionary Jurisdictions in the United States, and three Foreign Jurisdictions. THE GENERAL CONVENTION. The American Church meets triennially in General Convention, which is composed of the House of Bishops and the House of Deputies. All Diocesan and Missionary Bishops are entitled to seats in the House of Bishops. The House of Deputies consists of four Clergymen and four Laymen from each Diocese. No alteration can be made in the Constitution, or in the Liturgy or Offices of the Church, unless the same has been proposed in one General Convention, and made known to the Conventions of every Diocese, and adopted at the ensuing General Convention.
