Hon. John, Earl of Abergavenny, at an immense expense. The binding and inlaying alone must have cost at least treble the above sum now asked. There is also a title to each volume printed expressly for this work.

AS an original member of the Stationers' company; and on "A colleccion to be gathered of the cōpanye, by comaundmēt of the Lorde Maior and the Courte of Aldermen, for the howfe of Brydewell," he gave xijd. Alfo, as a benevolence towards the charges of their hall, xijd. And towards the neceffary expenfes for establishing the corporation iij f. iiijd. He was one of the "vj men which was taken into the lyuera-agaynft the feafte daye," 1561; ferved Junior Collector of the Quarterages in 1566, and Renter, or Upper Collector in 1567; but he was fined, for negligence, xxs. He dwelt at the fign of the cradle, in Lombard-street.

"A treatyfe of the newe India, with other new founde landes and Ilandes, 1553. afwell eastwarde, as weftwarde as they are knowen and found in these oure dayes, after the defcripcion of Sebaftian Munfter in his boke of vniuerfall Cofmographie: wherein the diligent reader may fee the good fucceffe and rewarde of noble & honefte enterpryfes, by the which not only worldly ryches are obtayned, but also God is glorified, & the Chriftian fayth enlarged. Tranflated out of Latin into English, by Rycharde Eden. Præter fpem fub fpæ." Dedicated "To the right hyghe & mighty Prince, the Duke of Northumberlande hys grace." See an extract from it below."
