Language peculiar to himself he improved the human mind; he enforced the practice of virtue, good-will, and piety amongst men, teaching them so to país through this vale of tears, that they may fafely arrive at that country where all tears fhall be wiped away. His life was conformable to his doctrine; a chearful deportment was his great character iftic, a chearfulness grounded on the doctrines of his religion, and which can only be poffeffed by those who firmly believe the great truths of it. For Learning he was no lefs eminent, being well acquainted both with ancient and modern writers. Attacked with a lingering decay of strength, he trusted in his God; and he met his approaching dif folution with that candour and refignation, which are only to he attained from confolation drawn from the Gospel of Christ.

man, as a scholar, as a preacher, and as a Chriftian, you will feldom fee his like again. To enter into a laboured panegyric to his memory, is by no means my defign; I only with you, who were beft acquainted with his many virtues, to examine your own feelings on the occation; and on a review of his conduct through life, you will, with the eye of faith, behold him before his fedge, where many will appear to give evidence of the efficacy of his labours, and where he will receive the reward of a good and faithful fervant, "and enter into the joy of his Lord."

Steele, lately advertised for a forgery committed on a respectable house in the city, but better known by her having dictated the truly infamous Memoirs of Mrs. Sophia Baddeley," who fupported Mrs. S, during her affluence, in the capacity of a convenient woman. From the time of her abfconding the had carefully concealed herfelf from the officers of justice in the above house, totally unknown to the landlord or his fervants. Some papers found in her pocket led to the difcovery of sher name and perfon. She came to this inn about a fortnight before her death, in an old habby chariot, and asked for a lodging, and was provided with a nurse; for all which accommodations the paid regularly for the first half of the time, being attended by an old man, who called himfelf her husband; bt, on failure of payment, being apprehended and committed to the Compter, he denied any connection with her. In the mean time the died, and was buried in Bihopfgate church-yard, in a manner rather better than a common pauper.

Found dead in the morning, at the HornTavern, Doctors Commons, by the bursting of a blood-vetfel in the preceding night, the Rev. Rich. Pearfon, nephew to the prefent Lord-Mayor. He had lately come from Wakefield, co. York, in hope (as it is fuppofed) of being appointed chaplain to his Lordship.

By her firft husband, Laurence Holker, of Gravefend, M D.` fhe has left one fon, Laurence H. attorney in St. Thomas Apostle, and a daughter, the wife of Mr. Thorpe.
