HILE presenting this book for the perusal of the
public, I am consoling myself for its deficiencies,
with the time-honoured adage, “ Everyone must have a beginning."
Why not remedy the defects, if you are aware of their existence ? some would say. Advice more easily given than followed, at this early stage of my labours; the sovereign, and indeed, only remedy, being locked up in the school of that severe, but most faithful taskmaster, EXPERIENCE.
MARY EMMA HATTERSLEY.
