1 will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth: neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.

22 While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat. ond8ummer and winter, and clay and night, shall not cease.

CHAP. IX,

A NDGod blessed Noah and his sons, /X and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.

5 And surely your blood of your lives will I require: at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man's brother will I require the life of man.

6 Whoso sheddcth man's blood, by man shall his blood be ehed: for in the image of God made he man.

7 And you, be ye fruitful, and multiply; bring forth abundantly in the earth, and multiply therein.

8 TT And God spake unto Noah, and to his sons with him, saying,

9 And I, behold, I establish my cove nant with you, amd with your seed after you;

10 And with every liv that is with you, of the fowl, of the cattle, and of every beast of the earth, with you; from all that go out of the ark, to every beast of the earth.

11 And 1 will establish my covenant] with you: ne.ther shall all flesh he cu off any more by the waters of a flood neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.

12 And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between nic ami you; and every living creature thatw with you, for perpetual generations:

13 I do set my bow in ths cloud, and,

it shall be for a tokea of a covenant between me and the earth.

14 And it shall come to pass, when \ bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:

15 And I will remember my covenant which is between me and you, and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.

16 And the bow shall be in the cloud and 1 will look upon it, that 1 may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that ii upon the earth.

1 unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant, which 1 have established between me and all flesh tliat wrupon the earth.

18 tT And the sons of Noah, that went forth of the ark, were Shem, and Ham, and Japheth: and Ham ii- the father of Canaan.

19 These are the three sons of Noah; and of them was the whole earth overspread.

20 TT And Noah began lobe a husbandman, and he planted a vineyard:

21 And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent.

IT And Noah lived after the flood three hundred and fifty years.

And all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years: and he died. CHAP. X.

NOW these are the generations of the sous of Noah; Shem, Ham

Generations and Japuetii; and unto them were sons bom after the flood.

i IT The sons of Japheth; Gonier, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meehech, and Tiras.

3 And thesousof Gomer; Ashkeuaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah.

4 And the eons of Javan; Elishah, and Tarshish, Kilthn, and L)odanim.

6 By these were the isles of the Gentilee divided in their lands; every one after his tongue, alter their families, in their nations.

G TT And the son9 of Ham; Cush,and Mizraim, and Phut, and Canaan.

7 And the sons of Cush; Seba, and Havilah, and Sabtah, and Raamah, and Sabtecha: and the eons of Itaamah; Sheba, and Dedan.

8 And Cush begat Nimrod ; he began to be a mighty one in the earth.

9 He was a mighty hunter before ihej Lord: wherefore it is said, liven Nimrod the mighty hunter before thej Loud.

10 And the beginningof hiskingdoin was Babel, and Erech, and Aecad, and Calnch, in the land of Shinar.

11 Out of that land went forth Asshur, and builded Nineveh, and the city B.ehoboth, and Calah,

12 And Resen between Nineveh and Calah Uie same is a great city.

13 And Mizraim begat Ludim, and! Anaminj, aud Lehabim, and Naphtuhim,

14 And Pathrusim, and Caslubim. (out of whom came Pkilistiin,) and Caphtorim.

15 TT And Canaan begat Sidon hisj first-born, and Heth,

16 And the Jebusite, and the Ai rite, and the Girgasite,

17 And the Unite, and the Arkite,| and the Sinite,

18 And the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and the Hamathilc: and afterwards were the families of the Canaanites spread abroad.

19 And the border of the Canannites was from Sidon, as thou comest to Gerar, unto Gaza; as thou goest unto Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Adtnah,! and Zeboiim, even unto Lasha. \

20 These are the sons of Ham, after their families, after their tongues, in their countries, and in their nations.

26 And Joktan begat Almodad, and Sheleph, and Hazarmaveth.and Jerah,

27 And Hadoram, and Uzal, and Dikiah,

28 And Obal, and Abimael, and Sheba,

29 And Ophir, and Havilah, and Jobab: all these were [lie sons of Joktan.

30 And their dwelling was from Mesha, as thou goest unto Sephar, a mount of the east.

31 These arc the sons ofShem,after their families, after their tongues, in their lands, after their nations.

32 These ure the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nation?- and by these were the nations divided in the earth alter the. flood.

CHAP. XL

AND the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.

2 And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and Uiey dwelt there.

3 IT And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for mortar.

4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city, and a tower, whose lop mo.v reach unto heaven; and let us make ns a name, lest we be scattered aoroad upon the face of the whole earth.

f> And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower,which the children of men builded.

6 And the Lord 6aid, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.

18 And Peleg lived thirty years, and begat Reu.

19 And Peleg lived, after he begat! Reu, two hundred and nineyears, and begat sons and daughters.

20 And Reu lived two and thirty] years, and begat Serug.

21 And Reu lived, after he begat Serug, two hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters. ]

22 And Serug lived thirty years, and begat Nahor.

23 And Serug lived, after he begatj Nahor, two hundred years, and begat sons and daughters.

2-4 And Nahor lived nine and twenty years, and begat Tcrah.

25 And Nahor lived, after he begat] Terah, a hundred and nineteen years, and begat sons and daughters.

26 And Terah lived seventy years,] raid begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran.l

27 IT Now these are the generations! of Terah: Terah begat Abrara, Nahor,1 and D'aran ; and Haran begat Lot.

iSIS. Abram called.

2S And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees.

29 And Abram and Nahor took them wives: the name of Abram's wife ivas Sarai; and the name of Nahor's wife Milcahj the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscali.

30 But Sarai was barrer.; she ha'! no child.

31 TT And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son's son, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram's wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the'Chaldces,1o go into the land of Canaan : and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there.

32 And the days of Terah were two hundred and live years: and Terah died in Haran.

CHAP. XII.

NOW the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and Own thy father's house, unto a laud that 1 will show thee:

2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and 1 will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou 6halt be a blessing:

3 And I will bless thern that bless thee, and curse him that curseth lliec: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

4 IT So Abram departed, as theLono had spoken unto him; and Lot went with hiin.- and Abram teas seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.

5 And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came.

6 IT And Abram passed through the laud unto the place of Sichem, unto the plain of Morel). And theCanaanite teas then in the land.

7 And the Lord appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed wil5 1 give tlvis land: and there builded he an altar unto the Lord, who appear ed unto him.

8 And he removed from thence unto a mountain on Uieeastof Bcth-cl, ard pitched his tent,/«u»/ig-Bclh-e] on tli" west, and Hai on the east; and there] he builded an altar unto the Lonn, and called upon the name of the Lotto.

9 And Abram journeyed, going on still toward the eouth,

10 IT And tliere was a famine in the land: and Abram went down into Egypt to sojourn there: for the famine u<as grievous in the land.

11 And it came to pass, when he was come near to enter into Egypt, that be said unto Sarai his wife, Behold now,

1 know that thou art a fair woman to look open:

12 Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see thee, that they shall say, This is his wife; and they will kill me, but they will save thee alive.

13 Say, 1 pray thee, thou art my sister: that it may be well with me for thy sake; and my soul shall live because of thee.

14 And it came to pass, that, when Abram was come into Egypt, the Egyptians beheld the woman, that she

15 The princes also of Pharaoh saw her, and commended her before Pharaoh: and the woman was taken into Pharaoh's house.

16 And he entreated Abram well for her sake: and he had sheep, and oxen, and he-asses, and men-servants, and maid-servants, and she-asses, and camels.

17 And the Loud plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues, because of Sarai, Abram's wife.

IS And Pharaoh called Abram, and said, What is this that ihou hast done unto me? Why didst thou not tell ta° ".hat she was thy wife?

19 Why saidst thou, She is my sister? so I might have taken her to me to wife: now therefore behold thy wife, take her, and go thy way.

■20 And Pharaoh commandedI his men concerning him: and they sent him away, and his wife, and all that he had.

CHAP. XIII.

AND Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he nad, and Lot with him, into the south.

2 And Abram was very rich m cattie, in silver, and in gold.

3 And he went on his journeys from the south even to Beth el, unto the

y Is not the whole land before thee? Separate thyself, I pray thee, from me if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or KtJiou depart to the right hand, then I will go to the left,

10 IT And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the Loud destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egy pt, as thou comest unto Zoar.

11 Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other.

12 Abram dwelt in the land of Canaan, ami Lot dwelt in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom.

13 Bu'.lhe men of Sodom were wicked, and sinners before the Lord exceedingly.

HIT And the Lord said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art, northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:

l."-> For all the land which thou eeest, to t hec will 1 give it, and to thy seed for ever.

16 And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thv seed also be numbered.

CHAP. XIII.

The battle GEN]

17 Arise, walk through the land, in i ,the length of it, ami in the breadth of

't: for 1 will give it unto thee.

18 IT Then Abram removed Aw tent,! and came and dwelt in the plain of lYIamre, which is in Hebron, and built there an altar un(o the Loan.

CHAP. XIV.

AND it came to pass, in the days of
Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch,
king ofEllasar, Crfedorlaomer king of
Elam, and Tidal king of nations:

2 That these made war with Bora kin;* of Sodom, and with Biraha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, and Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela, which is Zoar.

3 All these were joined together in the vale of Siddim, which is the salt]

4 Twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and in the thirteenth year they rebelled.

5 And in the fourteenth yearcamcj Chedorlao;i:;r, and the kings that ««;■«: with him, and smote the Rephaims in Asnteroth-Karnaim, and the Zuzims in Ham, and the Emims in ShavehK;riaihaim,

6 And the Horites in their mount| Sijir, unto El-paran, which is by thi wilderness.

7 And they returned and came to Enmishpat, which is Kadesh, and smote a!) the country of the Amalek ites, and also the Amorites that dwelt! in Hazezon-tamar.

8 And there went out the kin^ Sodom, and the king of Gomorrah, and the king of Admah, and the k' Zeboiim, and the king of Bela, (the same is Zoar,) and they .joined battle with them in the vale of Siddim;

9 With Chedorlaomer the king of Elam, and with Tidal king of nations, and Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of EUasar; four kings with five.

10 And the vale of Siddim urns Jidl\ of slime-pits; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, and fell thetv; and they that remained fled to the mountain.

11 And they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their) victual?, and went their wai'.

.2 And they took Lot,Abramfs brother's son, (who dwelt in Sodom,) and l»ts goods, and departed.

14 And when Abram heard that his rother was taken captive, he armed

16 And he brought back all the goods, .ndalso brought again his brother Lot, .nd his goods, and the women also,and the people.

17 TT And the kingof Sodom went out to meet him, (after bis return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer,and of Ihe kings that were with him,) at the valley of Shaveh, which is the king's laie.

IS And Melchizedek kingof Salem brought forth bread and wine; and he >as the priest of the most high God.

19 And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:

20 And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.

21 TT And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself.

22 And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lifted up my hawl unto the Lord, the most high God, the pos:essor of heaven and earth,

23 That I will not take from a thread even to a shoe-latchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldestsay, 1 have made Abram

ich:

24 Save only that which the young nm have eaten, and the portion of the nen which went with me, Aner, Eshcol, and iYIamre; let them take their portion.

CHAP. XV.

AFTER these things the word of the Loud came unto Abram in a vision, savin?, Fear not, Abram: I am thv shield, and tby exceeding great reward
