the invention of Printing, and several copies of the first editions of the Latin Classics, by the German and Italian Printers, in matchless preservation, from 1465 to the end of that century. Very fine specimens of Typography, remarkable for beauty, will likewise be found in this Catalogue, from Nicolas Jenson to John Baskerville; and the small, but very neat and correct productions of the Presses of Colinaus, Plantin, and Elzevir, are to be met with in every page.

To point out all the beautiful books in this Collection, would be again to print the Catalogue; it is only necessary to say, that while the fine books of Foreign Countries have been attended to, the productions of the English Press have not been neglected. It is not in every Library that the Æschylus of Stanley, the Euripides of Barnes, the Pindar of West, the Xenophon of Hutchinson, the Hesiod of Robinson, and the Cæsar of Clarke, are all to be found on the LARGEST PAPER. But besides those editions of the Classics, our own Authors will be found in uncommonly fine condition, and mostly on large paper.

In short, it is not too much to say, that such

a Collection of Fine Books, considering their number, never were exhibited for Sale, in this or any other Country; for they consist-with some Duplicates, of all the rare and virtû part of a large Library, collected with great taste and considerable expense-leaving the Library, at the same time, in possession of its Books of Science, Amusement, and Information.

CONDITIONS OF SALE.

I. THE highest Bidder to be the Buyer; and if any Dispute arises between two or more Bidders, the Lot so disputed shall be immediately put up again and re-sold.

HI. No Person to advance less than 6d.; above One Pound 1.; above Five Pounds 2s. 6d. and so in Proportion.

III. The Purchasers to give in their Names and Places of Abode, and to pay down 5s. in the Pound in Part Payment of the Purchase-money; in Default of which the Lot or Lots so purchased to be immediately put up again and re-sold.

IV. The Lots to be taken away, at the Buyer's Expence, within Three Days after the Conclusion of the Sale; and the remainder of the Purchase-money to be absolutely paid on or before Delivery.

V. The Books are presumed to be perfect, unless otherwise expressed; but if, upon collating, AT THE PLACE OF SALE, any should prove defective, the Purchasers will be at Liberty to take or reject them.

VI. Upon Failure of complying with the above Conditions the Money deposited in Part of Payment shall be forfeited, and all Lots uncleared within the Time aforesaid, shall be re-sold by public or private Sale, and the Deficiency (if any) attending such Re-sale, shall be made good by the Defaulters at this Sale.

No Books will be delivered during the time of Sale.

Gentlemen who cannot attend the Sale may have their Commissions faithfully executed by their humble Servant,
