But, if he has taught us, our ends will be thefe:

Toworship the Lord with praise and with pray'r;
To practife his word as well as to hear;

To own with contrition the deeds we have done, And take the remiffion God gives in his Son. 4 Bleft Spirit of Chrift, defcend on us thus;

Thy fervant affift, teach him to teach us;
O fend us thy unction, to teach us all good,
And touch with compunction, and sprinkle with

With fov'reign pow'r and energy;

AS

S, Lord, our bleffings come from thee,
And in thy light the light we fee;
Thou hid'ft thy truth from prudent eyes,
But mak'ft the babe and fuckling wife:
O give us now the hearing ear,
And fill our fouls with godly fear!

2 Open thy fcriptures to our mind;
May we the hidden treasure find!
Do thou the myfteries unfold,
More precious far than mines of gold;
And, when thy gofpel is fet forth,
Oh may we fee and feel its worth!

3 The facred page we're fure to wreft,
Unless with that anointing bleft
By which alone thy mind we learn,
And can thy bleffed truths difcern:
Give us, O Lord, the feeing eye;
With power, too, thy word apply.

4 Though we may fee the table spread,
Yet that is not to eat the bread:
By faith may we receive that food
By which our strength may be renew'd;
Receiving in our hearts the word,
May we go on to ferve our Lord!
